That's right, ladies and gentlemen... for the first time in the 24 years of my life, I am the owner of a vehicle. :D
It's a '98 Honda Civic DX coupe, 146,700 miles on it, automatic (although I was hoping to get a stick shift), and it's black and cute. :) I paid $4000 for it, which was below the blue book value. Everything seems to work fine, although the radio could be louder - I think maybe the front speakers aren't working. No biggie, though. The a/c works great, and I can go places now! :D I already went to Target and told my old co-workers that I now have a car, and I bought a few accessories that seemed necessary, such as a bluetooth headset for my phone (on clearance, yay), a flashlight and a cassette adapter for my Zune to plug into so I can play my music. :) I'm wondering if a car-knowledgable friend of mine could help me see if the wiring could be fixed for my speakers. It's not a big problem, and I can hear the music, just not quite as loudly as I'd like. But it's definitely loud enough to hear the music, at least. :)
This means I won't have to spend two to three hours in transportation each day just to get to and from school. I will have more expenses, but I am thinking of getting a part-time job (just 10 to 20 hours a week) to cover such expenses. I will also be safer now, not having to walk around so much and take busses with creepy guys. This also means I can drive myself to San Francisco next weekend for the Lindy Exchange (yes, I'm going :D) and I can drive myself to my parents' house when I want to visit them (given that I have the gas money). Gas prices have been going down still, which is encouraging to me, and my car should get like 32 miles per gallon.
Here are two pictures I took:
From the driver's side.
And from the back... and upstairs on the left is my apartment. :)
That's all!
