Inception

Feb 19, 2007 22:17

The two are certainly bemused
At what would seem a simple thing,
True love shall conquer what they lose.

Tonight they find a new excuse
To break the bonds to which they cling,
The two are certainly bemused.

Instead of strength, they now recuse
Themselves from fellowship with wings;
True love shall conquer what they lose.

Abomination now ensues,
And each one feels the suffering,
The two are certainly bemused.

Inception never did suffuse
Their hearts so strongly as this Spring;
True love shall conquer what they lose.

The life they share will now pursue
A greater passion, joy to bring,
The two are certainly bemused,
True love shall conquer what they lose.

This is a villanelle, which I wrote for poets_challenge this week. :) I could be happier with it, but I did the best I could, given the fact that I've been out of practise with structured poetry for awhile. I attempted to write this in iambic tetrameter.
