my dad's having me look up a bunch of christian colleges that supposidly have art (and that i won't go to anyways so this is a waste of time). this is some scary stuff.
Bethel University was origianlly a sweedish seminary. under "special expectations for the bethel community" under "covenant for living together":
"We recognize that not all devout Christians share these rules and expectations. However, certain issues are important for our educational mission and our life together at Bethel. They are designed to facilitate our growth, development, and learning as a community...
We believe that God is honored by careful thinking and joyful use of our creativity and imagination. While the media and the arts can be valuable forms of recreation, our commitment to learning calls us to think critically about them and to see them as empowering and liberating ways to understand truth and beauty."
what does that sound like to you? artistic censorship. you can express yourself... as long as it's happy and about beauty or joy. even my mom shuddered at that one. they are rule crazy! (not to mention the whole "community" business, that word freaks me out). just the fact that they have to put a disclaimer on that other christians may even find them extreme... yikes.
