I don't know much about Michael Jackson, but I was surprised when I logged onto facebook last night and saw that practically everyone in my network had a status about him. From what I'd read about him, he wasn't a respected public figure...ridiculed in fact, so I was expecting cynical jokes and the like. I was shocked by how everyone was commenting on his legendary abilities...and how he was an all time favorite singer. I suddenly felt sorry for him-- he had an incredible gift, but he had to die in order for people to celebrate him.
I had no idea he was abused either. The more I think about it, the sorrier I feel for him.

What happened to his siblings by the way? Were they close?

Exactly, ever since the whole child molestation accusations, I've felt really really sorry for Michael Jackson. I've seen interviews with him, and honestly, in many ways he seemed like a child. Normal, but rather childlike, and I think it was just a way to cope with so much fame.

He had been very close with his siblings, I don't know how close they'd been in recent years since he started to become more eccentric. I mean, he started out in the Jackson 5 with his brothers in the 70s, and he and Janet Jackson did a song together in I think it was around 1997. In fact, it was his brother Jermaine Jackson who gave the official news on TV about his death which made me start crying cause my mom, who grew up when the Jackson 5 was still around, always explained to me that Jermaine and Michael were really close. The whole thing's just so saddening, he was planning a comeback tour and everything. He's even got 3 kids. :(
