Is love a fancy or a feeling?

I have just watched the movie Moulin Rouge for the first time, after many many people recommended it to me and were appalled that I had not seen it. It was unlike any movie I've ever seen and I'm really not sure what I thought of it yet other than that I enjoyed it and that it has made me think about love.

I was just thinking--what's okay to tolerate and what's not okay? Because some element of love is letting things go. I'm pretty sure that's why my parents haven't killed me and eaten me for stew. Or killed and eaten each other.

At the same time there's a highly romanticized notion of loving floating out there which lets people get away with way too much. "Oh well, but I love 'em." Where's the balance? What *is* the balance?

I guess it's one of those, you see it, you know it, things.
