HBP Watch: Deux

Jul 20, 2009 06:00

Okay. So I went to go see HBP with Mum and
chevy_the_geek . A few more things noticed, but nothing too drastic. Well... One thing's a little drastic.

I admit, this time around, I liked Draco quite a bit more. I actually felt bad for him. And also, Tom Felton is a wonderful actor. (I didn't realize that he was crying after the first bird died, but I was going to laugh, and then I stoppped like, "awww...") Anyway, Mum says that he's extremely good at looking evil, "like a psycho" she said, and that gave me the feeling that she didn't quite understand that we were supposed to feel bad for him. But anyway, during the Tower scene, that one line that he has, "I have to kill you or he'll kill me" was delivered very well, and I sort of wish we had seen that kind of intensity in Snape, but I think that might have been OOC for movie!Snape. The way they did it, with him just looking like he was going to throw up on Cormac instead, was alright. Though, what bothered me most, was that Dumbledore only had to plead once. I think they should have drawn that out at least a little more. And also, I know I just said the aloofness was part of movie!Snape, but I really think he could have used some expression when he actually cast the AK. Whatever.

Okay, you know what, though? I still ADORE that one flash of Snape we get at the end there right before the Lightning-Strick Tower. Something in my heart just flutters a little, and I have no idea what it is.

Ginny is still a wall, and I actually found that annoying this time around. The first time it was like, oh Ginny's being awkward, and this time it was just like... What? Again, whatever. Though I'm starting to see that while the movies made me dislike Ginny more, it also made me really like Harry. I didn't think any of the Trio, let alone Harry, might even be in the standing to be a favorite character, but... If I had a Top 7? Maybe.

This time around I actually picked up on how weird that final scene was, where Ron was almost non-existent... It's 'The Golden Trio' not 'Two Gold Peeps and Ron Whose More Of A Gold-Copper Alloy.' The other thing that bothered me was that in the Spinner's End scene, they had those bunch of kids ride by on bikes, and the book gave me the impression that SE was a really dangerous neighborhood/ no one lived there anymore, so, you know, whatever.

Also, I forgot to mention this in my first review... Harry would sleep with Snape's book? Think about that one.

Oh hey, is it just me or does Regulus sort of look like Mark Strong? You know... Prince Septimus? (I dunno, maybe that's because I saw him in the trailer for Sherlock Holmes beforehand, which looks sooooo good, BTW.) I just feel bad to think that, you know, he's one of the Inferi in the lake... OKAY QUESTION. Is it entirely made up and in my head that Regulus and Snape were really good friends? I wasn't sure. It makes sense, but... Since when is something in canon simply because it makes sense?

So Chevy and I had a HBP discussion at Panera afterward, and I sort of spammed her with Life's Work canon... Oops. XD But did you know that LW!Snape has attempted suicide four times? He's in a very different mindset each time, buuuut... Still. I hadn't realized it was that many. Well, I guess I did. Anyway Chevy agrees that he's probably a cutter, at least. Fair enough. I mean, if he's going to purposefully not take care of himself (i.e. greasy hair, too skinny, etc) then how much further is actually hurting himself, anyway? This is too dark, I'm moving on.

I realize fully that I never made a China post, and I ought to, but I'm terribly lazy right now and I can't rouse myself to do so. On the fandom end of things, which is much more manageable, I watched the first two Lord of the Rings films on the way home (THEY'RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISEGARD!!!) and I really did like them. Aragorn is <33333 and is probably going to go on the List. I... Really should have something else to say about it? Gimli is funny and needs a crowning moment of awesome, I don't see how Arwen comes into this aside from making Aragorn miserable, Galadriel is a little creepy, but cool, I like Pippin and Merry, and Frodo reminds me very much of a Harry Potter, in the sense that he's emo with his burden and is no one's favorite character, even thought there's nothing unlikeable about him. Sam is totally a Ron.

And why, WHY couldn't Ian McKellan be Dumbledore? Not both Gandalf and Dumbles because that would be ridiculous, but just Dumbles. I mean... He would have been PERFECT! We wouldn't have had the GOF issue, and... Well, you know. He has the 'twinkly eyes' that Michael Gambon just doesn't.

I also finished Ouuuuuraaaan~ Oh God. I don't think I have enough time right now to do it justice, in fact, I'll make an Ouran post later, I think. Right. Because I watched the last episode on the bus ride the the Great Wall, and I almost started to cry, and... Yeah. I loved it. BRB on that.

Seeing HBP gave me a little bit of a boost, and now I'm cranking out new pieces of the Life's Work, which is always a good thing. Also character development, (finally!) for some of those OC peeps who hadn't gotten a whole lot of attention before. Also, I have Snape hanging out outside the gates until they take down the Dark Mark; I liked that addition to the movie, so I'm adding it to headcanon.

SO OKAY. I'm going to go pack for Comic Coooooon! I'l post my supposed schedule later, and I really should ask zarla  if she's going this year. Maybe not, since she's been doing alot of (super super cute) MGS comics-

Did I mention that I started playing Metal Gear? The second one. Otacon is so cuuuuuuute~ OKAY  TALK ABOUT THAT LATER GOTTA GO PACK BAI NAO~

NO NO NO REALLY QUICK: I had a dream last night that I had to write an in-class paper about commas and their usage, and I started it by quoting Shoebox, "Repeat after me, Mr. Black. I do believe in commas. I do, I do, I do." OKAY BYE

ouran, snape, metal gear solid, stardust, harry potter, shoebox, lord of the rings
