The X Files: Hate the Future
I’d have used “fuck the future,” but that sounds like the porn version or something.
So anyway, thanks to my mentor/partner-in-crime/whatever
nasubionna, before I’d even finished season 1 I knew that things went pretty badly to hell in the last couple of seasons, and that the ‘philes have a love/hate relationship with Chris Carter, which was very odd to me as a long-time Trekkie. (Roddenberry, the Great Bird in the Sky, is revered.)
So at that point--only six months after I’d started watching the show, we made sort of a suicide pact: to watch Season 8 and beyond together, for the snark and mutual support. More recently came the idea of blogging our hate for all the world to see (not that we think anyone particularly cares). So this isn’t a true hateblog, dedicated to saying horrible things about a particular person or show, but a place to vent about the part of a beloved canon that went so badly off the rails.
(Somewhere around “Rain King” I started to understand the love/hate thing. Fuck you, Chris Carter.)
