Well, that was a big 'ol steaming pile. The expected shooty violence and rampant sexism that goes along with the video game industry as a whole (and not just the "women are all impossibly-constructed sex objects" angle, but men as testosterone-driven creatures incapable of higher thinking once said testosterone has been triggered) but maybe a little racism in there was well (the über-gamer is Japanese).
I don't even understand the game itself--the scenarios we saw should have been an exercise in sharpshooting while avoiding being shot yourself, not just indiscriminately spraying bullets until you run out of ammo and the game doesn't.
Normally I like seeing Scully saving the day (see "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose") but in this case it was just a no-win situation that she held at bay long enough for Mulder to pry open the door so they could get through it. Yay teamwork I guess, but meh.
And another one set in California, what a shock.
The only maybe bright spot is the Gunmen--I'd started to worry that they were already gone. I ♥ the Gunmen.
David does have pretty nice arms, though.
...and am I the only one thinking that if Mulder and Scully really are involved now, she is going to be getting some serious payback outta him? Because you know Scully knows how to work discomfort, deprivation, and psychological pressure to her advantage. "Want to explain to me why you were drooling over that woman like a St. Bernard on Novocaine while I was standing right there? And you'd better make it good."
