☼ First of all, I don't think C. Sonic is a true mute because... well, that doesn't make sense. For now, I'm going to assume he just doesn't like talking that much for whatever reason, aside from short statements like, "I'm outta here!" every now and then.
His only real lines in the classic days are:
- "Yes!"
- "I'm outta here!"
- "Robotnik made my friends like this. I must save them! Robotnik must be stopped." Oh, 3D Blast and its 'inspirational' dialogue.
- "I just did what I wanted to do. Nobody messes with my friends. See ya!" ...more silly dialogue.
Point being, that's not very solid of a "voice," and I figure his speech patterns are just as casual as his older self's. Maybe just a bit blunter. My goal is to try and do a lot with his gestures, like in Generations, but I might squeeze a few words out of him when appropriate. He's still basically a new muse, so it's all experimental atm.
☼ I focus mainly on the SoJ canon, but he'll have called Eggman "Robotnik" at first. Maybe come up with the eggcelent nickname at some point, especially when he keeps building machines with Egg tacked onto their names.
☼ Agewise, I'd put him at 10 - 13. Pre-pubescent, which explains his short, roundish figure.
☼ He's very, very enthusiastic sometimes. Just look at his S Rank animation, for crying out loud. Plus HOMING ATTACKS. Coolest things ever.
☼ I like to think Generations ends with a stable time loop rather than a split timeline. Meaning... C. Sonic definitely would remember everything that happened in his future, but use that as a sorta frame of reference thing to make sure everything happens the way it should. Also, seeing and hanging out with his older self would probably him to be a bit chattier. I mean, it certainly inspired him to learn the homing attack!
☼ He looks up to his older self in a big way. I noticed him trying to mimic his body language in a few instances, and he seems really excited to see him in some of the cutscenes. Plus, homing attacks are amazing, and he seems to really look forward to his future when he has to go.
☼ His animations and expressions give a very happy-go-lucky vibe, and there aren't many times where he looks snarky or sarcastic. I still think he's got some 'tude, but not quite as strong as it is in the future.
Sonic 1 -> Sonic CD -> Sonic 2 -> Sonic 3 -> Sonic & Knuckles -> Sonic Generations
This is my tentative timeline. Still trying to figure out where the game gear titles and Sonic 3D Blast fit into things. I'm tempted to put 3D after Generations because he's able to use the homing attack while equipped with a gold shield.
Excited:
Stomping, spinning around, and spin dashing off screen, landing in a reclining position. (S rank animation)
Angry:
Narrows his eyes, shows his teeth, and shakes his fist.
Huffs, glares at the player (waiting animation).
Deterined:
Serious expression, hands clenched into fists. Nods. (Espio rescue scene)
Bored/Annoyed:
Hands on hips, eyes half closed. Looks off to the side. (Amy rescue scene)
Deadpan look, hands on hips. Points at himself and then smiles. (Charmy rescue scene)
Confident:
Bumps his fist against his chest and gives a thumbs-up (Vector rescue scene).
Hands on his hips with a smirk.
Finger wave (classic title screens, end level pose in Sonic 3).
Confused:
Blinks, frowns, looks down. Hand on his belly. Tilts his head to the side. (Knuckles rescue scene)
Looks up at his quills, feels them. (Cream rescue scene)
Shrugs, frowns, scratches his head. (Rouge rescue scene)
Rubs quills and shrugs (Blaze rescue scene)
Cutscene 02:
Mimics tails by looking into the distance. When Tails spots him, he smiles and waves. He quickly takes off to inspect Chemical Plant.
Mirror room cutscene:
Looks in the mirror, rubs his quills, makes a funny face, rubs his belly. He looks a little annoyed at the reflection and crosses his arms. Even hits the mirror with his fist. When he hears Eggman/Robotnik talking from the strange door, he quickly takes off before his older self can pursue.
After Death Egg Robo:
He rushes quickly to the broken down robot, angry when he's knocked back and spots the strange monster.
Cutscene 06:
He puts his hands on his hips and stares at his future self, looking a little miffed at first. It doesn't last long; he points at himself with a smile, as if he's showing off. Sort of a smug little gesture.
He's quick to take off after the monster and overall seems a bit more impatient than his older self between this and the past two cutscenes.
Cutscene 07:
In Seaside hill, he quickly rushes over to meet his future self and the two Tails, smiling as he skids to a stop.
Cutscene 08:
He closes his eyes and shudders after the 'monster' gets deflected by the emerald. He smiles, points at his older self, and nods when he wants to go check out the Chaos Emerald. He looks eager to go get it and mimics his older self's body language a little. Also brofists.
Cutscene 09:
They both chase the emerald, and he looks completely surprised when modern Sonic does the homing attack, with his mouth open wide. He jumps back and flails a little, and then he spins around in excitement and gives his older self a thumbs-up.
Cutscene 10:
He puts both his hands against his chest, looking like he's trying to hold back his laughter.
Cutscene 11:
He does a little spin jump when his older self point to him. Probably another way for him to say yes or that he's ready. He also looks a little surprised when the emeralds appear, but he's quick to follow his older self and transform.
Ending:
He skids right over to his older self, looking more than a little excited. Before he tries a homing attack, he smiles, flexes both arms, and takes off running. He looks super excited at first, but as soon as he starts to fall, he looks like he's 'swimming' in the air... and lands head-first on the ground.
He looks a little embarrassed afterwards, scratching the side of his face and looking down. He leaves with a big smile, giving his future self one last thumbs-up.
