Reita/Uruha - Are You Serious? - PG-13 - Oneshot

Oct 21, 2007 00:20

                               Uruha"

Grumbling, he folded the slip of paper and set it amidst the junk on his kitchen counter, relatively close to his keys so he’d remember to take it with him tomorrow. He wasn’t planning on resorting to handing the letter over, but he knew there was an excellent chance that he would forget how to speak. Hopefully he would remember he wrote his intended speech on paper to do the speaking for him.

------------------------------

He only had to wait a minute before his knocks were answered with an open door and Reita’s smiling face. “Uruha! What’s up?” he asked.

“I… kind of wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Oh? Well I kind of want to listen,” Reita chuckled, opening the door wider and gesturing for Uruha to come inside. Uruha shuffled his way into Reita’s apartment nervously, following his friend. Reita took a seat on the couch, patting the seat next to him. Uruha slowly sat down, wringing his hands anxiously. Reita noticed Uruha’s strange behavior and raised an eyebrow as he watched him curiously. “So… what was it you wanted to talk about, Uruha?”

“Um, there’s this thing,” Uruha said.

“A thing?”

“Yeah, a thing I need to say.”

“What kind of thing?”

“Well, it’s kind of a big deal.”

“Kind of a big deal…”

“Yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.”

“How big of a deal?”

“Um, maybe the size of the Death Star?”

“The Death Star? That’s a pretty big deal. You should probably do something about that.”

“Yeah, probably…”

“Yeah, you probably should.”

“Yeah, I probably should…”

“Uruha.”

“Yeah?”

“Spit it out.”

“Right. Well, see… the thing is, I… well, you… I mean-“ Uruha stumbled over his words.

“Uruha?”

Uruha’s only response was a whimper. After a minute of silence, he reached into his pocket and produced his back-up plan. He held out the note for Reita, who furrowed his brow in confusion and asked “Is it for me?”

Uruha nodded frantically, blushing and looking at the floor. Reita hummed curiously, opening the paper. Uruha was trying with all his might not to have a panic attack as he watched his friend read what he had written for him. After a few seconds, the silence was broken with Reita’s laughter. Uruha’s eyes widened with surprise and he quite possibly stopped breathing. “Uruha, are you serious?” Reita asked, trying to swallow a laugh.

Uruha could feel his eyes watering. Horrified, he stood abruptly and ran. He was so focused on being anywhere but near Reita that he didn’t hear Reita’s pleas for him to “wait!” and “come back!” All Uruha could hear was the sound of his heart breaking.

------------------------------

“Uruha! What the hell happened?!” Aoi asked, completely surprised as he opened his door and saw his best friend, choking on sobs.

“Aoi,” he whimpered, throwing himself at Aoi and crying uncontrollably.

------------------------------

“…and then he just up and left!”

“Are you serious?” Ruki asked as he laughed.

“That’s what I said! And then he just stood up and took off!”

“That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard all week!”

“I know! I don’t know what his problem is!” Reita exclaimed, sighing.

“He’s so weird,” Ruki added thoughtfully with a chuckle.

------------------------------

“I’LL KILL HIM! I’LL FUCKING KILL HIM!” Aoi roared, hugging Uruha protectively as he stroked his hair. Uruha sniffled, nuzzling Aoi’s neck as he grasped handfuls of his shirt. “I cannot believe that fuckface! I cannot BELIEVE he had the NERVE to laugh at you like that! Come on.” Aoi let go of Uruha and grabbed his hand gently. He snatched his keys off of the table and tugged a reluctant Uruha out of the apartment.

“Where are we going?” Uruha asked, although he already had a few ideas of what the answer might be.

“To punch that fucker’s face in so far he’ll be able to see with the back of his head.”

------------------------------

Ruki answered the violent knocking at Reita’s door, only to be greeted with a violent punch in the face. Too stunned to react immediately, Ruki found himself  being pulled towards Aoi by the collar of his shirt. Finally having enough sense to realize what just happened, Ruki blocked Aoi’s fist with his palm as he tried to punch him again.

“AOI, YOU MOTHERFUCKER!” Ruki yelled.

Realizing he was holding Ruki, Aoi tossed him aside and walked towards the figure standing in the living room. Uruha rushed towards Ruki, helping him sit up and telling him to lean forward. He grabbed one of Reita’s discarded shirts, briefly wondering why Reita was stripping as soon as he walked in the door, and pressed it to Ruki’s nose to stop the blood flow.

“YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” Aoi screamed at Reita, punching him in the eye. Reita stumbled backwards, only to be yanked forwards again and punched in the other eye. “I’LL STRANGLE YOU WITH THAT DAMN NOSE STRAP, YOU BASTARD!” Aoi kneed Reita in the crotch. Hearing Reita wail in pain, Uruha immediately looked in his direction. Gasping, he rushed over to Aoi and  hugged him from behind, trying to restrain him.

“Aoi, stop! STOP!” Uruha pleaded, somehow managing to hold back Aoi and his rage.

“Uruha let me go!”

“NO! He’s already going to look like a panda! Do you want his nose broken too?!”

“YES!"

“What the hell happened here?!”

All four turned towards the open door, seeing Kai enter the apartment with a look of incredulity on his face.

“Kai, help me!” Uruha whimpered. Kai hurried towards Uruha, taking over the job of restraining the currently blinded-by-rage guitarist. Finally free to move, Uruha rushed towards Reita, who was curled in the fetal position on the floor. “Reita! I’m so sorry! Are you okay?!” Reita groaned, allowing Uruha to help him sit up. “I’m so sorry. I’m SO SORRY!”

“Uruha, it’s okay. You’re not the one who hit me,” Reita replied, turning to glare at Aoi, who was currently lying on the couch with Kai seated on his stomach, pinning him down.

“I’m not the jackass that laughed at Uruha!”

“You beat me up because of that?!”

“Do you know how awful it was to open my door and have a sobbing Uruha collapse into my arms?!”

Uruha shuffled his feet awkwardly, his face a bright shade of red. Ruki had decided to join the other four, still holding the shirt to his nose. “Are you fucking kidding me, Uruha? You were crying?” Ruki yelled, muffled by the shirt.

“HOLD IT,” Kai screamed, causing everyone to look at him. “Now… What. Is. Going. ON? Uruha, what happened?” Uruha was wringing his hands furiously, staring at the floor-too embarrassed to speak. “Reita? Ruki? I assume you two did something, considering your current states?” Kai asked the two.

“Fuck off! I didn’t do anything but answer the door!”

“Aoi!” Kai gasped, slapping Aoi in the shoulder.

“I assumed Reita would answer the door!”

“You couldn’t even wait to make sure you had the right person?!”

“HEY! My best friend was 6 kinds of torn up because of that asshole!” Aoi argued, pointing at Reita. “I was a little bit focused on shutting him down!”

“I’m SORRY!” Reita yelled. He turned to face Uruha, saying more gently “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you cry, but did you seriously expect me not to laugh?”

“I’LL KILL YOU,” Aoi screamed, struggling underneath Kai in attempts to push Kai off.

“AOI! If you don’t calm down, I will not hesitate to tie you to a damn chair!” Kai threatened.

Pouting with discontentment, Aoi stopped struggling. Kai hesitantly removed himself from his position on Aoi’s stomach. Deciding he wasn’t going to lash out again, Kai shoved Aoi’s legs so he would sit up, making room for Kai to sit down on the couch. “Ruki, has your nose stopped bleeding? Do you think it’s broken?” Kai asked.

“It’s not bleeding anymore and I doubt it’s broken,” Ruki informed, tossing the dirtied shirt behind him.

“Okay. Go get some ice for your nose,” Kai instructed. Ruki disappeared into the kitchen. Kai sighed, eyeing his three remaining band mates as a thick silence crowded the room. Reita was seated on the floor, his eyes looking something awful from Aoi’s treatment. Aoi had his arms folded across his chest-his face plastered with the most unattractive scowl-as he sat next to Kai on the couch. Uruha was standing a few feet from Reita, hunched over with apprehension. Kai was seriously concerned Uruha’s hands were going to fall off because of the ferocity with which Uruha was wringing them. The silence was disturbed by Ruki’s return into the room. He held an ice pack to his nose as he walked towards the armchair and sat down.

“Reita, I’d have you put ice packs on your eyes, but I have a feeling none of us would be able to look at you and take this situation seriously with both of your eyes and your nose covered. We need to get this sorted out, so… you’re just going to have to suck it up,” Kai said. Reita grunted in response. “Now, what exactly happened? Uruha was with you earlier?” he asked Reita.

“Yeah. He came over earlier. He was acting really strange. More than usual, I mean. He told me he needed to talk to me about something and that it was a big deal. So I’m thinking ‘Okay, he’s freaking me out a little,’ and I thought something might be wrong. He was trying to tell me something but he couldn’t get it out. So instead he hands me this,” Reita explained, grabbing the folded piece of paper off of his coffee table and holding it out for Kai to take-which he did.

“And I mean, with the way he was acting, I was expecting something really serious and important,” Reita continued. “But then I read what he had written for me and I just thought ‘is this a joke?’ I was sure he couldn’t be serious!” As Reita finished telling what happened, Kai unfolded the piece of paper and read what was written on it-wearing an expression of confusion on his face.

“A JOKE? How could you think Uruha being in love with you is funny?!” Aoi asked. Ruki, Reita, and Kai all gasped at what Aoi had just said. Aoi took no notice, still furious at what had happened. “Did it not seem serious when he was so nervous he couldn’t even talk? Or maybe it was the way he ran away after you laughed at him that made it hilarious! Was that it?” Aoi asked, angrily.

Uruha squeaked and ran through the first open door he came to-which was conveniently Reita’s room-and slammed the door shut. Reita turned towards his bedroom when he heard the door slam, letting out a whimper. “I need to go talk to him,” he said, moving to stand.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. Just leave him alone for a little while,” Kai suggested, convincing Reita to sit on the floor again. “Aoi…” Kai prodded gently, trying not to push Aoi’s temper past its limit, “In what language are the words ice cream, Smirnoff, instant noodles, and Pocky supposed to express feelings of love?”

Aoi yanked the paper out of Kai’s hand, causing Kai to yelp. Aoi quickly read what was written, laughing in disbelief. “I can’t believe Uruha handed you the wrong paper!” Aoi exclaimed, cradling his forehead with his hand and shaking his head.

“What the hell was it supposed to be, then?!” Ruki wanted to know.

“It was supposed to be a love letter!”

“A LOVE LETTER?” Kai and Ruki shrieked in unison; Reita was too stunned to respond.

“Yeah. As I said before, Uruha came over to my place a complete mess. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen him so upset before! He finally stopped crying long enough to tell me what happened. He had said he went to Reita’s to tell him about his feelings-“

“Why does it seem like you’re not startled at all by the fact Uruha is in love with Reita?!” Ruki interrupted Aoi, asking incredulously.

“You really hadn’t noticed?” Aoi questioned, staring at Ruki dumbly.

“No!” Kai, Ruki, and Reita all shouted in response.

“Well you should probably start paying attention to such obvious things or soon enough you’ll be trying to walk through closed doors!” Aoi stated with a sigh, implying the obliviousness of his three band mates.

“HEY!” the three yelled-in unison-offended.

“You guys are pretty good at being stupid at the same time,” Aoi teased, referring not only to their well-timed responses, but also their lack of awareness. All three opened their mouths, ready to speak, but Aoi began talking before they could get a word in.

“Anyway, back to what I was saying before. He went to Reita’s to tell him he was in love with him. He had told me that he wrote it down on paper in case he couldn’t bring himself to say it. So, he’d just let Reita read that. He gave Reita the paper and as soon as Reita finished reading it, he started to laugh. Uruha told me, ‘Aoi, it hurt so much when he laughed at me. I spend so much of my time hurting because of how I feel and he thought it was funny!’”

“Oh my God,” Reita said, standing up in a panic and beginning to pace the room frantically. “Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God!”

“So,” Aoi continued, “I’m sorry I beat Reita up, but do you understand? I really just wanted to throw him out of a moving vehicle at the time. How was I supposed to know Uruha handed Reita his fucking grocery list?! Uruha didn’t even realize what he’d done!” Aoi defended himself.

“Well, That’s understandable. I’ll forgive you for punching Reita, but you and I aren’t finished!” Ruki said, still a little put-off at being socked in the nose by his friend.

Reita, on the other hand, didn’t seem bothered in the slightest that Aoi had beaten him up. He was too busy freaking out over discovering how badly he hurt Uruha. He laced his fingers through his hair, letting out a hiss as he yanked on it. “What have I done?! He probably thinks I don’t even care how he feels!”

“Yeah, I’d say so.”

“Aoi!” Kai scolded, slapping Aoi in the arm.

“Well what did you expect? Uruha thought he was telling Reita he was in love with him and Reita laughed!”

“OH MY GOD, I’m such a jerk!” Reita shouted.

Suddenly, everyone’s attention turned towards Reita’s bedroom as they heard something breaking. “What the hell was that?” Ruki asked.

“Uruha!” Reita yelled, running to his door and trying to open it, but it was locked. “URUHA! Are you okay? What happened?! Let me in!” Reita demanded, pounding on his door. The door opened, revealing Uruha still in one piece. Reita pushed the door open further, moving inside his room and gently grabbing Uruha’s arms. “What happened? Are you hurt?!”

“Reita, I’m fine…”

“What was that sound?!”

“I heard you yell. It surprised me so I dropped what I was holding and it broke.”

“But you’re alright?”

“Yeah, I’m sorry.”

“Sorry for what?” Reita asked, confused at his apology.

“Well, I broke your picture frame,” Uruha mumbled, pointing to the mess on the floor. Reita looked where Uruha was pointing and walked over to the mess. He leaned down and removed the photograph from the broken frame. It was a picture of Uruha hugging Reita backstage, after one of their lives. He smiled, looking at the photo.

“This is my favorite picture,” he told Uruha.

“That one? Why?”

“Because it’s a picture of what makes me happiest,” he said, looking at Uruha and smiling wider at the puzzled look on Uruha’s face.

“And what might that be?” Uruha asked, slowly.

“Making music and being with you,” he said softly, setting the picture on his dresser and walking over to Uruha, who started to wring his hands nervously. “Stop that,” Reita told him, gently prying Uruha’s hands apart and taking them in his own. “You’re going to hurt your hands as much as you to that.”

Uruha stared at the floor, asking “Reita why did you laugh at me?”

“Uruha what did you expect me to do after you made a big deal about telling me something and then handed me your grocery list?”

“I don’t know, but you could-my GROCERY LIST?” Uruha’s head shot up to look at Reita, who smiled and nodded in response. “But… I put the note where I’d remember to take it!” Uruha elaborated, “right by my keys! On my kitchen-oh.”

“Well that explains a lot.” Reita said, laughing.

“I feel like the world’s biggest idiot,” he mumbled, staring at his shoes.

“So,” Reita whispered. “What was it you had to tell me, earlier?”

“Didn’t you hear Aoi say it?” Uruha asked, looking up at Reita nervously.

“Hear Aoi say what?” Reita replied with a smirk. He laughed as Uruha glared at him. “Yeah, I heard Aoi say it, but I’d rather hear you tell me.”

Uruha wasn’t so sure he wanted to spill his heart twice in one day, but considering Reita already knew what he had to say he figured it couldn’t turn out too badly. It definitely couldn’t be any worse than his first confession. He sighed. “Reita, I have something to tell you. I’m in lo-mm!” Uruha was shocked as he felt Reita’s soft lips pressed against his own. After a few seconds, Reita pulled away with a smile.

“Uruha, I have something to tell you.”

“Uh huh…” he responded in a daze.

Reita reached into his pocket and pulled out a slip of paper, handing it to Uruha. He took the paper from Reita, unfolding it and reading what it said.

“Reita, this is a gas station receipt!”

“Well the grocery-list method has already been used!”

“Smartass,” Uruha commented, punching Reita’s shoulder playfully, “you think you’re cute, don’t you?” Reita nodded with a hum and leaned in, pressing his lips to Uruha’s once more. Uruha loved everything about the moment: the warmth of Reita’s arms wrapped around his body, how good it felt when Reita nibbled on his lip, how soft Reita’s hair felt as he ran his fingers through it, the sound of catcalls in the background…

Reita and Uruha pulled away from each other, turning towards the wide-open bedroom door only to see Kai grinning like a fool, Aoi giving a thumbs up, and Ruki making obscene gestures with his hands, causing both Reita and Uruha to blush furiously. “Tell me Uruha, do koalas and polar bears strike your fancy too? Or is it only pandas that make you wanna tap that?” Ruki asked, smirking.

Uruha turned to look at Reita shyly, mumbling, “You really do look like a panda…”

------------------------------
A/N: So, according to my 7 year old cousin, pandas aren't bears; they're part of the raccoon family! Wtf, pandas? Quit being cute and bear-like if you don't even wanna associate with them! Did you know ducks aren't really birds? They're part of the fish family.
