Rating: PG-13
Characters: Adam, Angela
Pairings: Adam/Angela
Summary: In which Angela is not a model of decorum or tranquility and Adam is his smarmy, manipulative self.
Disclaimer: It's still not mine. Really.
Author's Note: Hello, slutty 70's Angela! Why can't I get away from this pairing? Better yet, why can't I get away from Adam? Also... Anytime, I can get away from the Chess lyric titles would be good. Anyway, written at long last for heroes_contest prompt "Return," which figured in vaguely.

Angela Petrelli was a model of decorum as far as the people who thought they knew her best were concerned. Those who truly knew her knew that there was far more to her than what the public saw- the sorts of things that only emerged behind locked doors when true colors could be shown freely without a hint of judgement save from those who wouldn’t pass judgement.

She had been subtle in the hall, catching Adam off-guard by sidling up to him, starting up on some bit of news that had occurred while he was gone, all while digging her nails far too deeply into his shoulder until she steered him into an empty office and locked the door behind them. The locks had barely clicked into place before she had him backed against the wall, practically smothering him with passionate kisses that he was positively certain she had never offered Arthur at any point in their marriage.

"And a very good morning to you too, Angela," he said when she finally tore herself away from him. "Restless, much?"

Angela rolled her eyes. "You have no idea. I thought you weren’t coming back for another week."

"Trina insisted I come home from whatever crusade I was pursuing," Adam smirked. "You remember Trina, right? My wife."

If that was supposed to deter her from what she wanted, he was cleary mistaken. Fidelity wasn’t something she willingly embraced (this much was obvious, given her sporting affairs with more than a few of the men in this Company who weren’t her husband) and while it was a concept Adam certainly understood, it wasn’t one he completely partook in either, given the frequency of these flings behind closed doors. As if to prove this, she went right back to kissing him and started to undo the buttons of his shirt with fingers quick from years of practice right up until he pushed her hands away and broke free of her frantic lips.

"I do appreciate the welcome, Angela, but there are eleven people anxiously awaiting for my return and expecting both of us, and the last thing either of us wants is to go into that meeting late looking like two teenagers who’ve just had a tryst in a broom closet."

Angela scoffed. "Always a company man, aren’t you, Adam?"

"Just as much as you’re a company woman, and by that I mean you’ve slept with the entire Company."

He deserved the slap across the face and, actually, expected it, because he was the only man who could make her hate him and want him all at the same time and enjoyed reminding her of it. It was all about exploiting weaknesses, their relationship.... Well that and the sex, which was nothing short of spectacular, and, quite frankly, preferable to enduring two hours of idle prattle about his trip and the general monotony of these sorts of meetings.

He could wait though, because if he knew one thing about Angela (and he knew many things), it was that waiting only made her that much more hungry for what she was being denied, and making her want him that much more was half the fun. A handful of lovers and he was the only one of them that she would allow to manipulate her that way, no matter what he did or said.

He considered that to be something of an achievement.
