Author's Note: Written for starletfallen, who wanted an Olive and Chuck fic with the prompt "allergies."

Charlotte Charles, otherwise known as Chuck, had hoped that perhaps dying would have cured her of her hayfever, but, unfortunately, that was not the case. Not making that matter any easier on her was the rather large bouquet of daisies sitting on the pie shop’s counter, which she was somewhat wary to go near to see who they were for and who might have sent them, because of the affect it might have on her already slightly haywire allergies.

Thankfully, Olive entered at that moment and practically squealed when she saw the flowers. "Oooh! Aren’t those pretty? Where did they come from?" She was speaking to no one in particular, but when she realized that Chuck was the only one around at the moment, her exuberance diminished slightly. "Did you look?" She asked somewhat flatly.

"Allergies," Chuck replied, indicating the pretty bouquet. "I wouldn’t want to sneeze all over them."

"Oh poor dear," Olive said, slightly convincingly. "The pollen’s a nightmare this year." She began to poke through the flowers until she came up with a card, which she read silently to herself, the words bringing a smile to her face. "They’re for me!" She squealed. (Chuck winced, because she felt headache coming on and the high-pitched noises weren’t helping.)

"Who from?" Chuck asked, daring to edge a little closer.

"Oh no one important. Just an old friend," Olive said with a nonchalant wave of her hand. She paused. "You know what, Chuck? Why don’t you go upstairs and rest. You don’t look so good. I’ll even make you some hot soup on my break and bring it up to you, if you’d like."

Chuck arched her eyebrows. The waitress hadn’t so much spoken a word to her, much less shown any real sign of caring about her, but she was one who generally only saw the best in people and didn’t take this as any sign of danger.

"Thanks. I think a good rest is in order."

"Sleep well," Olive called cheerfully after her as she vanished into the backroom, leaving her alone with her card and flowers, which she stared at fondly, giving a tiny little sigh of satisfaction.

"For Olive Snook," she read the card out loud, "Daisies for my personal daisy. Love, your secret admirer."

In her sadly delusional little heart, that secret admirer was Ned, but the lingering presence of a certain traveling salesman outside the shop said differently.
