My poor wife

So, Kate had all six of her wisdom teeth removed.  Fyi: Dairy Queen will make your wife a PumpkinPie Blizzard without pie crust pieces.  That way, no little bits get stuck in her sutures.

it wasnt until the second day that she found out that her codeine pain killers made her nauseous.  She switched to Aleve.  Not as effective, but something.

During all this she has had a torn muscle along her rib cage…so there were a limited number of positions she could sleep in, when her whole responsibility this week was to lie down, rest and let her body heal.

And then we got the word from her dad that Kate’s grandmother passed away Friday afternoon.

Not the best week.

There was one bit of low comedy this week. Because Kate has been drifting in and out of consciousness, she likes having some noise on in the background. Because we don’t have cable on the second floor, this means DVDs. At her request, I picked Kate up a DVD of “The Pelican Brief”. Fry’s is within walking distance of my bus stop.

Kate watched the movie today. It is an old-school DVD, with the cardboard front, not the standard clamshell plastic case. The disc plays only half the movie on one side. Midway through the movie, you have to take it out and flip it over.  The only other movies I have on multiple discs are the Director Cuts of the Lord of the Rings movies.  I guess back in the late ‘90s, which is where I assume this disc is from, they didn’t have the technology down pat yet.

Kate: I like it, it’s like an old timey DVD
