eh. ive been waiting to say this for months. and ill finally get down to it.
there's been a few ads that are bothering me. i mean really.
firstly, it's about the stupid Visa ad with Richard Gere and the freakin birds.
It's bloody racist. outright discrimination.
why are the asians made the bloody merchants who have their faces gleam immediately at the sight of a freakin plastic card held by a caucasian who prob doesnt give two hoots about asian culture and the significance of releasing birds erm "for good luck", and prob only wants to buy off the whole freakin stall just because he can.
he's dressed in a neat white suit of some sort and he's always standing in front of all the asians. wtf.
the asians are restricted to only displaying weird smirks and speaking in exaggerated accents.
if it was the other way round, im sure the foreigners will be pissed.
the asian culture seems to have grown into a kind of tourist gimmick.
something that foreigners will find fascinating, just because we arent like them.
so they can go: "oh.. that's interesting.. that's so exotic!! they sound so funny blah blah"
by golly fuck.
fine. maybe u can say they made it such as to target an asian audience.
i see it as double the insult to make us watch ourselves being stereotyped to such roles.
then there's the pizza hut and jean yip ad.
seriously.
i mean fucking seriously. they're one of the worst ads ive ever seen.
or maybe its because ive been to japan and america and their ads are wonderfully creative.
BUT SERIOUSLY
the pizza hut one with michelle chia and some funny guy is amazingly horrible.
NO ONE FUCKING FALLS IN LOVE WITH THE PIZZA GUY.
it just doesnt work that way here.
it's so bad i dont know what to say.
michelle chia seems to have a knack of getting herself in the worst ads.
remember the cafe nova coffee one where she was singing twinkle twinkle little star or something.
bloody hell. that was horrible.
i cringed.
then the jean yip one. it's just. ghastly.
the one where a weird bunch of people conjure up some kind of choreography and this woman with frizzy hair bounces up at the end.
ok. i dont know bout u.
but it's fucking weird.
it makes me go " huh. wtf." everytime i see it.

What Sarah Said - this one is wonderful. the lighting, the girl's reaction and the way it blends with the music. i love this one. and the ending is beautiful.
