10 movies in 1 month - March

Apr 01, 2011 23:45

Another month flew away. With university time really go too fast, I don't even notice it (and soon it will be exams' period so that's not good DX).
Anyway, I completed my task this month too, looking back on my list I saw that March was the 6th month. It's been half a year doing this movie project, I read that Shige is doing it for the 2nd year...Well, let's come to the end of this one for the mean time XD

The student of Prague (3.3) & Gulliver's travels (11.3)

Well, I didn't want to insert this first movie in the list, I kept it just in case but in the end I left it here. I watched this movie at university with my teacher during the Literature class. It's a silent film of 1913, something like one of the first movie ever. It's very short and the pictures were all ruined, the way of acting was so different from what we're used to that it was kind of hilarious. We laughed a lot in class :D It talks about the myth of Doppelganger. Well, it was interesting, I never watched a movie this old before.
Gulliver's travels is instead a comic movie with Jack Black. I love Jack Black, I find it funny and not too trashy like many of those American comic movies. This one was nice, everybody knows about Gulliver's travels I guess.

The Green Hornet (13.3) & Black Swan (19.3)

The Green Hornet was EPIC. I really really liked it! I'm a nerd so I usually love movies about superheroes, this one was good! I didn't know Green Hornet before, I read it's one of the first superheroes characters. In the movie he's a pretty loser superhero (Seth Rogen) who totally lies on his talented right-hand man (here the role is played by Jay Chou, fantastic). It's funny and it got me hooked until the end. Recommended if you like the genre!
Black Swan...mmm...I guess I should say I liked it since it won so many prizes, etc...Well, I didn't. But I must admit that it's not because of the movie but my fault ^^" I never liked horror/thriller movies because I'm a scaredy-cat. Expecially psychological ones. So this wasn't good for me, I was creeped out and it took me days to take the courage to watch it all. Sorry Natalie Portman, you're gorgeous and really good but that's not for me DX

Pride and prejudice (21.3) & The bucket list (31.3)

Pride and prejudice is worth at least 3 movies, because I watched the serial tv of 1995 with Colin Firth (*_*) in 6 episodes :D I read the book recently out of curiosity because I always avoided those kinds of romantic victorian novels, all my prejudices were wrong though because I loved the book. Since friends and my mom told me that the best version of it was this serial tv I decided to watch it. It was so accurate! Loved the characters, it was all exactly like the novel. Perfect.
The bucket list...I'm still heart-broken. First, this movie stars two amazing actors, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Second, it's the best movie of the month. The theme is heavy since the beginning, the two men are warned that they have less than one year of life. They decide to write down a list of things to do before their death. As you can see, the movie is sad without doubts. Though it's not like that, I didn't see it as depressing. The strenght, energies of the two men is impressive, it's inspiring to see how they handle this situation with all its difficulties. The end is just amazing, I cried so much. Highly recommended.

Burlesque (21.3) & Don't laugh at my romance (26.3)

Two movies also watched by Shige :) Burlesque was very good, I'm a fan of musicals so I may be biased. When I saw some pictures and read the plot I was puzzled anyway, it sounded like a really trashy movie XD I guess it also is in some way! But Christina Aguilera is ridiculously beautiful and talented, her voice is so powerful and pretty, Cher is a sacred monster and it's unbelievable to watch her and think how old she is (not only for the aspect, also for the voice, the physic, etc.). I enjoyed it, I liked the songs, the scenary, the costumes (Shige, they were all quite naked, I'm sure you said you liked the costumes LOL!), the fluffy love story in it. Really nice!
Don't laugh at my romance...when it was over I went crazy to search what Shige said about it. He said nothing actually :D He just said in a Shiget Together that he went to watch it with a friend but didn't comment on it, he only said that maybe he should have read the novel before watching it. Maybe because the movie is obnoxious?! *personal opinion* Ok, it has some very fluffy/cute love scenes that make you go "Awwwww" but they don't worth it. The movie is slow, they barely talk and when they do it has the most stupid dialogues ever. Like that the characters may be cute but after 1 hour you just want to shoot them. The love story may look nice at first too, but after you see that she is an irresponsible (unbearably dumb) woman, who doesn't care about nobody's feelings, and he's just a fool to go after her, you can't stand them anymore X_X The title says "Don't laugh at my romance" but in Japanese is something like "Don't laugh to people's sex" and I think that this diffirence says it all. You can't call that love, and I can definitively laugh on it. Sorry for the harshness, this movie irritated me xD

Rango (22.3) & The kids are allright (25.3)

Another disappointing movie, Rango. I watched it because from the trailer it looked like a really funny animated movie...It was very common, the story was so classic and there was nothing more on it. I know that in the original version the main character has the voice of Johnny Depp. Too bad I watched it dubbed so I lost also that attraction.
The kids are allright is a...neutral movie. One of those that you watch and forget soon. It talks about this unconventional family, two teenager kids raised by a couple of lesbians who get to know their biological father. It was nice to watch, it had some interesting aspects but in the end it was kinda light. I didn't like how after all the issues and pains the things resolved so easily, a kiss, an hug and everybody is happy ever after. Don't know, they could develop the plot better according to me.

Those were my two cents. Hope you find them interesting ^^
