GIRL FRIENDS #21
"Let's talk about romanticism"
Kato and Maruyama talk about the idea of romanticism and their personal vision, the perfect way to spend Christmas and more...

M: Romanticism, uh~ People like us who do our job just want to have a normal date, right?
S: I would like to have one of those once.
M: Meeting in Roppongi, have lunch together, watch a movie...
S: Go seeing the illuminations in the middle of the city crowd. Holding hands to avoid losing each other and keep close, well, a home date would be nice too.
M: Going to the kitchen from time to time to bother the girlfriend who's cooking ♪
S: And watching "Akashiya Santa" together!
M: Wrapped in a blanket, like the famous scene of "Ghost"~ Complaining about the cold...ok, that's disgusting (laughs).
S: Oniisan, you're getting over-excited here (laughs). We don't usually like love movies, but after all watching one during Christmas with your girlfriend would be nice.
M: I'd feel more comfortable watching a comedy like "Ted" though.
S: That's good too! But that movie is full of dirty innuendos.
M: I know (laughs). Maybe something with Jim Carrey?
S: Like "Mask"~ But a romantic movie would be the best I guess. Watching a comedy is like trying to escape, it's too safe. I would go with something classic like "Roman Holiday" or "Breakfast at Tiffany's"...What are more modern love movies? "Titanic"? "Bodyguard"?
M: AND I~~~ ♪ (Singing the famous refrain)
S: My beloved "3-Iron" is a love movie too but it's probably too sad. You cannot get depressed on Christmas.
M: How about "Socrates in Love"? Too heavy. Western movies are better to escape from reality. "Sister Act" would be good.
S: I used to love that movie too! (Searching a ranking of love movies on his smartphone) Right, "Edward Scissorhands". And "Punch-Drunk Love" is great too, but it's the story of an useless man...
M: Involved with the movie's atmosphere the girl might scold you too (laughs).
S: I think the best solution is "Edward Scissorhands". It talks about a love story but there's also a big part of fantasy.
M: It doesn't make you look like you're trying too hard. But we're thinking so much about this question that we're already trying hard enough (laughs).
S: I would also love to go to a festival or a camping with my girlfriend. We'd travel with many other friends, sleeping in divided tents for girls and boys. Then I'd suddenly wake up at 4am, go out from the tent to get some coffee and see her out from her tent as well...
M: That's good!! I can imagine the scene!
S: Love could begin from a situation like that. Under the dawn, sitting around a wooden table, the smoke of dying bonfires...so many details (laughs).
M: (Listening with closed eyes) What a beautiful scenary.
S: Then, knowing that there's some sparkle between us since the night before, our hands touch when passing the coffee mug and maybe a stolen kiss~
M: What a real romanticist! That's special! Growing old this kind of feelings fade out but they also get subtler.
S: Then the other guys would begin to get up, maybe somebody saw us from the tents laughing at us...ahahah!!
M: Good cut!
S: When we turn around we'd hear the tents zipper shutting up in haste (laughs).
M: Youth! If I were a girl I would probably date you. I would totally fall in love.
S: No, come on (laughs).
M: What surprise would you plan for your girlfriend?
S: A surprise...? I don't know. I would contact her friends and invite them for a surprise birthday party, probably. But maybe the girl would prefer to spend her birthday just with me...in that case I would kidnap her!
M: Ah! Nice! Take her by surprise ♥
S: And I'd bring her to the airport.
M: (Excitedly) Where will you go?
S: Not abroad or in Okinawa, more something like Kanazawa. It would be nice to plan a surprise in a restaurant in Kanazawa, right? Damn, I'm thinking to this very seriously now. I'm too determinate (laughs).
M: You're good at planning things! The readers will love this. They'll be like "Shige-chan would do stuff like this~♥"
S: Ahahah! In reality I suck at booking things and stuff though. I completely fail.
M: Then we should do a Fusion like in Dragon Ball!
S: Right (laughs). When I drive I always want to listen to my favourite music but I would accept to listen to my girlfriend's music. But what if she requests to listen to Kanjani8? I'd be happy that she likes what I do for work but it would be awkward, right?
M: ...I'd be totally fine with it!
S: You can listen to your own songs?
M: I do! For example if my girlfriend wanted to watch a Kanjani8 concert DVD together I would agree! If she wants I would do anything, even showing my embarrassing sides with a multi-angle camera!
S: Have you ever done it?
M: During a Shochikuya concert they used the multi-angle camera without telling us.
S: Uwah! I would like to try it but I'd be scared to be filmed with it.
M: Right now I wouldn't be bothered at all. Back then it felt too awkward (laughs).
S: I can understand! You'd be a good boyfriend!
M: And if she asks you to sing one of your solos at the karaoke?
S: Absolutely not!! I wouldn't date a girl like that since the beginning!
M: Ok, I won't then!
S: What (laughs). Anyway it might be fun too. If we go to karaoke together you'd add Kanjani8's songs and we would sing NEWS ones too.
M: Of course! I apologize if I won't be able to sing them properly.
S: What kind of girl do you like anyway?
M: A girl with my similar food tastes, a person who enjoys the Japanese four seasons.
S: Is that so important?
M: Yes. I like people who can prepare Nanakusaguya on the 7th of January. I would totally fall for a girl with such care for everyday life. If she's also younger than me I would never resist!
S: It sounds nice. A girl who enjoys Japanese archery, the tea ceremony and flower arrangement.
M: Irresistible! In elementary school I was in love with a girl of the Kendo club, I remember her pony tail bouncing out of the mask...
S: Ah, that's nice!! For real! You'd see her during the afterschool practicing and she'd look so strong. Then she takes off the mask and you see it's a pretty girl!
M: That's awesome!
S: I like refined girls. I always say this. But I often fell for girls who didn't match my ideal, I think that the "type" is not that important after all.
M: I know, but sometimes you talk to a girl and when you ask her what's her favourite type she replies "My type is the man I fall in love with", I cannot help but thinking she's being sly.
S: Oh, I hate who answers like that too! They're not saying anything good, I always want to tell them "Everybody's like that, of course, but that's not a nice way to cut a conversation!"
M: It's imposible to talk like that.
S: Exactly.
M: So I'm not alone in this, good!
S: You are allowed to think whatever you like anyway, no need to ask to me (laughs). Talking about surprises, nothing can surpass the one you planned for my birthday this year. I went to a restaurant and you booked a private room, you arrived and we ate cake and a lot of delicious food, you even got me a present...it felt just like a date! It was awesome. I have to plan something for your birthday now. Luckily my listeners at the radio sent me recommandations to buy you a present. Can you imagine what is it?
M: Uhm...a portable TV?
S: Correct! I have one of those, they're great!
M: Yay!
S: Now you know though. I will have to buy a second present, I will think about something else.
M: It's enough! I'm satisfied (laughs). Let's check our schedules first!
S: I have no plans yet, I will call you later.
M: We're going to celebrate a lot! (Laughs)
