KoyaShige ~ Just being besides you ♪
-Koyama and Kato are the MC in the show "Mirai Theater". One year passed since its beginning...
K: There are still so many jobs in the world that we don't know, so many people who work hard with decision and resolution, every single episode is a new stimulus. We get a new courage seeing those people doing their best, it gives power to everybody who needs to be cheered. This is simply what I think.
S: The encounters with each guest are important too. Everybody is different from the "Innovators" we see in the VTR, everybody does a different job. Listening to their story you realize how hard they worked to become who they are and your image of them can completely change too.
K: We make the entertainers go home a little sad (lol). But that's the good side of "Mirai Theater", the charm of the show comes from listening to passionate stories that you rarely heard before.
-During the show we saw you cry too. Are you particularly weak to some kind of episodes or are there stories that touch you more than others?
K: I think that after all the keyword is "with all one's might". But it's not all, I'm very impressed seeing people doing something with all themselves. I...I always cry with episodes about the earthquake. Then the ones with parents and children. I'm particularly weak with earthquake stories because I reported them with my newscaster job too.
S: I'm weak with parents and children, animals and sports ones...
K: Rigt. I think you cry the most with the VTR about somebody who failed and after lot of frustration come to success. I'm the same, sometimes I feel like I can understand the feelings of the main character.
S: Yes, it happens. Koyama...sometimes he doesn't get only weepy, he really cries!
K: Ahahah! Anyway, Hatori-san always cries way more than us two. Sometimes he makes me think: "Why he's crying so much?!" (lol).
S: It's true, he cries the most (lol).
-By the way, when the other NEWS members guested you talked about a "NEWS Mirai Theater". What about that...?
K: I don't think it's the right time for it yet. But one day I'd like to be a kind of "Innovator" that can be in one of our VTRs.
-In that case you would use a NEWS song as background music, right?
K: Sure. Something like "Full Swing" would be perfect, wouldn't it?
-I think it's perfect! I feel like crying only imagining it (lol). Why do you think it's too early to be in a VTR? Last year NEWS came back to work so it would be pretty moving...
S: No, the Innovators of the show are really awesome people. We can't be compared to them yet.
K: Right. I think it wouldn't be suitable. "Mirai Theater" VTRs are a matter of hope, they let us see the future. I want NEWS to work some more and do our best to be able to be in a VTR one day!
-We mentioned Hatori-san already, did you ever go to eat out together after the show?
S: Sure! Not always but we do it pretty often. Our dinners together are fixed in his schedule (lol).
K: Those dinners are quite frequent in our private life lately. Me and Shige are the kind of friends who randomly go to drink together.
S: After work we always see if we have time to hung out. But Koyama-san...he always has to wake up early in the morning (lol).
K: True (bitter smile). My life is similar to the one of a salary-man.
S: That's why it's difficult to match our schedules. Ah! I want to go to that curry ramen restaurant we were talking about earlier!
K: It's one of my favorites, it's delicious! Ok, when?
-Oh, you just created a new plan.
K: Well, we're always like this, it's a very natural flow.
S: Me and Koyama talk always like "Hey, bring me there!" or "Tell me about that".
K: We chat like this too.
S: But I really hate when Koyama sends me stickers~ (lol). I wonder if you even buy them! (lol)
K: You should buy them too!!
S: No, thanks...I really can't~! (bitter smile)

-Do you have group chats with NEWS members too?
K: We should do it, I wonder how it would be~ It should be useful before lives and such, when we need to exchange opinions quickly.
S: (Making a winning pose) We can exchange this kind of stickers then? Like "Let's do our best!" (lol).
K: I think the lives will get really sloppy then (lol).
-Anyway your relationship is really rare, you're best friends and work in the same group. Could you imagine something like this from your first meeting?
S: Not at all.
K: Same here. Me and Shige were in symmetry since the beginning, I think that's one of the origins of our relationship.
S: Moreover it's always comfortable to be together! Sometimes when we travel together I read a book while he reads a newspaper.
-You're on the same wavelength.
K: Yes. Not only in the fun moments, being together in the hardest days with the group was something really important too.
S: Right, Koyama was always there for me (lol). When our first hiatus was decided we were going back home in the same car, only me and Koyama got off and we went together half-crying in a café.
K: I asked "Can I get off here?" but I was scared to go home alone so he came with me.

-Here's a question for you who have such a strong connection. If one day you'll get married, will you ask the other the "best friend's speech"? (lol)
K: Ahahahah! You're asking us this? Well, I always intended to ask him that in reality!
S: Really?! (lol)
K: Not only as representative of my friends, but as Shige himself. I want him to talk about how I am from Kato Shigeaki's point of view.
S: I don't really understand it (lol). Ok, I will surely make you cry, Koyama~ (lol). In my case...Uhm...I don't know?
K: It's ok, I'll be the toastmaster then! What about it? I'll be really helpful!

K: Let's have a Tegomass&Koyashige hitch-hiking trip from north and from south. It would be interesting to see where we'll finally meet, right?
S: It sounds like something that can happen in "The Tetsuwan Dash!" (lol).
K: Wins whoever went on for the biggest distance. Uwah! So interesting!
S: I'm not sure so many cars would stop in Japan in the contemporary days (lol). I'd like to do it if we get the chance though!

K: It's always like this anywhere, Shige is really helpful because he can read maps!

K: When we got lost in New York he was like "Let's try to understand more or less in which avenue and street we are".
S: That's the only way to not get lost! (lol)
K: I remember places from stores so I'm sure you can get where you want to go just walking~
S: But like that you cannot respect any plan!
K: That's why you're helpful! (lol)
♦ Matching blankets ♥
K: In a big supermarket in Hawaii we bought matching blankets. They're dark red in microfiber, so soft!
S: In the store they were rolled up, I stuck my hand in one (lol)
K: He started saying "It feels so nice!!"
S: Anyway when I'm home sometimes I roll myself in it.
K: When I use it I think "Maybe Shige's using his too~"
S: Noooo!! (blushes)

S: When I was in high school once we went to Shonan together with Koyama's car.
K: He selected our BGM.
S: You asked me to do that. I thought to the songs a lot, something excited like "Shanghai honey" for the travel and something sad as "Itoshi no Eri" for the coming back...I created the whole set list.
K: We were so serious (lol). Moreover he's so perfectionist, he even wrote "going" and "coming back" over the CDs! Thinking about that now, that was our first work together. Talking about travels (lol).

♦ That outlet...
S: In New York we went to a outlet far around 2~3 hours of bus from the city...and we didn't buy anything!
K: We took a whole day to go there...
S: Anyway coming back Koyama was awesome! We couldn't find the bus stop and time was running out, I was thinking to ask to somebody but...
K: I just started asking to everybody around us.
S: Moreover at first he asked only "Where?" (lol) That time I was really surprised at his sociability!
["Where?!" ahahahah]
♦ Koyama & the plane's time...
K: Once in Okinawa I mistook the plane time of 30 minutes. We went to return our rental car and a member of the staff who knew the right time asked me: "Are you sure you're on time?" We started panicking!
S: At the airport they were announcing our names "Koyama Keiichiro-san, Kato Shigeaki-san...", we started running and the clerks was making fun of us. I don't understand how he could mistake the time! (lol)
K: We rushed but in the end we did it on time~ (lol)
♦ Can't go back from Hawaii
S: Once we were in Hawaii and we couldn't come back because of the plane.
K: That time Tegoshi was with us, the cause was the bad weather. The next day we had to work, we contacted Johnny-san to tell him we couldn't reach Japan in time and he said "It's ok, YOU have fun one day more!".
S: He added "We'll leave that work to somebody else!". In the end Massu had to go to the show all alone.
K: That should have been Massu's "worst" (bitter smile)
