So...2012 is about to end and it's time to look back on the good stuff I watched/listened/read this year.
In 2012 I've watched 38 movies and read 17 books, not bad but a little disappointing.
You can read my full lists of
movies, books and
albums ^^
My 2012 best movies are:
Midnight in Paris
The Artist
The Avengers
Hotel Marigold
Paranorman
Moonrise Kingdom
Shige's best movies of 2012 were:
Shame
The skin I live in
Drive
Kirishima, bukatsu yameru tteyo
The Yellow Sea
Arirang
It has nothing in common with mine :D He watched many thriller and horror movies which aren't really in my tastes. I want to watch Shame and I'm kinda interested in the last two Korean movies and the Japanese one, but I've watched Drive on Shige's recommendation and I had to stop half-way because it was too violent and I couldn't stand it :(
On the contrary the movies I've chosen are quite cute and cheerful. Moonrise Kingdom is really adorable and so is Hotel Marigold, they're not big blockbuster movies like The Avengers, but they're definitely heart-warming. Between all the good animation movies that came out this year Paranorman was the best one in my opinion, smart, funny and the right pinch of gloominess and reflection. Midnight in Paris and The Artist came out on the last days of 2011 here in Italy, I simply loved both of them. The Artist in particular is an original movie, I've never watched silent films before and it's amazing how much a good actor can convey just with his body. I need to add a special mention to the latest movie I've watched: Struck by Lighting. It was very, very good. I wasn't expecting this! ♥
Many big important movies came out in 2012 but I didn't get to watch them all, honestly some of them sounded beautiful but pretty boring XD Maybe next year I'll catch up with them too.
Moving the topic to books I must say this year has been the year of trilogies: I adored the Hunger Games saga, I'm so upset whenever somebody compares it to Twilight one because the books by S.Collins are really beautiful, catchy and deep. I also loved the ending even if bittersweet and not corny at all. The movie was well-done and a nice candy-eye but I think it took away all the deepness of the book focusing on the aspects that could attract younger audience... This year I also finally decided to read The Lord of The Ring books, I've always been kinda scared to read them since they're so bulky and detailed but I loved them as much as I've always loved the movies ♥ I still have to read the final book, I'm reading them in the original language and it takes such a long time X_X
No really need to mention it but...of course this year Shige's first book came out and it was the best thing ever for him and for me as well. I talked so much about it (You can find a long review
here), I can only say that I want Shige to go on writing and become a great author. By the way this year I made my debut as reader of Japanese books in Japanese 8D Besides these I've read many big classic books, I strongly believe old novels are way better than most of the crap that is published nowadays.
A short mention to the artists I've heard the most this year. First of all I should mention Back number, since Shige first played one of their songs I became a big fan and I followed all their works during the year. I truly love them and all their songs ♥ Going on with Shige's advices I also love Flower Companyz and Hoshino Gen on the Japanese side and Ed Sheeran on the western one. Then, of course, the big comebacks: Big Bang and NEWS. No need to say I appreciated NEWS' one, right? XD Oh yeah, Big Bang are the one and only Kpop group I like. I also followed Yamapi's solo career, I loved all his singles, including Monsters that is awesome, but I didn't like much the album Ero >_<
That's all I think, probably this post was more for myself to gather my thoughts and have a memory of what I've culturally did this year but I hope you enjoyed reading this and you'll get some inspirations from my lists ^__^
On 2013 I want to start watching again many movies every month because this year I slacked around >< I also want to read more books (and I have a big pile of new ones as well) and listen to new music (because my folder is getting really old ._.) ♥ I wish to have time to do everything! :D
