QLAP 08.2012 - NEWS Endless Summer
-Chankapaana is an uptune song that adorns the new beginning of NEWS. Why did you choose it?
T: We had many possible songs, this one was powerful and easy to memorize. That's important for listeners, we wanted to release a song like this for our comeback.
M: This time it was important to be energetic, to have a song that we can enjoy all together with our patient fans. It was the only possible choice for our comeback.
K: We were lost until the end but this time we wanted to express our dash, our strong will to attack. We wanted something to say to our worried fans "Everything's fine!".
S: Then there's the title. At first you can't understand its meaning (lol). The first time we heard it I laughed a little too. Anyway it was interesting and I supported it.
T: I look forward to perform it live! The dance is very funny too♪
M: The hands dance of the chorus symbolizes a man with the thumb and a girl with the little finger. It's kinda comical.
S: It's pretty fast but it's not difficult as it seems, I want fans to try it too!
K: Once you get used to it it's fine. Shige, tell us the trick to dance well!
S: Memorize it well!!
(Everybody laugh)
-That's the basis (lol). Tell us about "Full Swing". It seems to match your determination, did you choose it all together too?
S: Yes. "Chankapaana" is uptune while this one is more meaningful.
M: I loved it since the beginning!
T: I had goosebumps. It reflects ourselves right now and I'll be happy if it can be a good input to everybody to work hard at full swing.
-Individually, what do you want to do at full swing right now?
S: Koyama, for you is golf club, right?
K: Yeah (lol). For now I could only do the driving range!
S: How do you call that in soccer, Tegoshi? Full shoot? Full kick?
T: No...I think nobody ever say "full" anywhere (lol)
S: I see (lol)
K: Shige, for you it's fishing?
S: (Nodding) Really, I want to go fishing so much! Yesterday I casually saw a fishing tv show...
K: Ehm...sorry but today we're really talking as old men, gold, fishing...(lol). How about you Massu?
M: Of course I want to do activities for the release of "Chankapaana" at full swing! I want to use all my strengths as much as possible! Talking and singing!!
T: I want to spend my Summer at full swing. The tour will begin too, I want to completely enjoy both work and private life!
M: Then I want to fully swing my hairstyle for the tour! (lol)
-Your hairstyle! (lol) It seems your unity became stronger now that you're directed to the new activities.
K: It is strong indeed! We're all watching the same direction and running towards it.
T: Some time ago we filmed the first performance of "Chankapaana" for a tvshow, it was a long time since the last time. We felt a pleasant tension, it was very funny.
M: Sometimes we felt it was difficult to get all along after such a long time too. We performed thinking all the time together what to do to be the best we could.
-Right now you're really putting all your energies to show your very best. Listening to you I really have big expectations for your national tour!
T: It's been almost 3 years until our last national tour, after all everybody want to see us live. We missed it too, I can't wait to enjoy our time and be happy all together ♥
K: The subtitle of our tour is a line we say in "Chankapaana": "Let's fall in beautiful love". We want to have a tour in which we will love each other with all the fans who waited for us ♥
S: We need to return their feelings, we will give them really cool, fun, the best NEWS ever!
K: Moreover we will have our first open stage! We want to keep our history while we create lives for new NEWS. I can't wait for the open stage!
M: I will do my very best to not sweat! (lol)
K: It's impossible! You sweat more than normal people doing nothing! (lol)
T: (lol) Tegomass experienced a open stage before, that feeling of freedom is so unique! It's completely different from normal stages, very nice.
-The worry for open stages is rain. Kato-kun, aren't you a rain man?
S: How do you know that?! (lol)
(KoyaTegoMass burst laughing)
S: But that can change too! It depends on the year!
K: What are you saying? Do you really believe on the rain man thing? (lol)
S: I do! Anyway it won't matter if it rains or not! We'll be there and we'll be the Sun!!
(Everybody stayed silent...)
M: (Clapping hands) Wonderful!
S: Thank you very much! (lol)
[*laughs* They're putting the blame for the rain on Shige ALREADY! Really! Poor guy XDD But he came out from the pitch greatly!]
-Massu told us some months ago that Koyama wants to change his hairstyle for the lives, will you do it?
K: I want to!
S: Eh? During the live?
K: Yes, I'll go and say "I'm going to do a shampoo now!" (lol)
T: Want to try how much your color can change keeping the bleach on for one hour?
S: We can pour the bottle on you and maybe it'll get to your eyebrows too!
K: Like "This is how it turned out?"...of course not!! (lol)
-Ahahah (lol). Anyway, which color would you like to try?
K: A light Summer-like color.
-Like Tegoshi?
S: That's all another lever of "light"!! (lol)
[ALL BLOND NEWS PLEASE!!]
-Right (lol). Kato-kun, will you dye your hair too?
S: No. Once I said that I will never ever dye my hair in my private life.
M: We'll do it in secret when he's sleeping! Only his eyebrows! (lol)
S: OI (lol). Isn't it funnier to have all different hair colors?
[SHIGE bummer!! D: Massu don't be TOO mean XDD]
-Masuda is red, Tegoshi yellow, if somebody dyes his blue you have a traffic light...
M: Shige's too extreme with his black hair, it'd be nice if he dyes them blue, right? Like he passed on the black! (lol)
TK: Nice!!
S: Ok. I'll aim for a blue that overcome black then (lol)

KOYAMA
Solo Music ♥ "Starry"
I think everybody was surprised to hear I wrote my own lyrics and moreover for a ballad love song, well, I'm 28 years old now, I can write a song about an adult man with a broken heart now.
I imagined two people that the gears of fate don't want to match and I added my personal feelings to write it (lol). It's our first single in 4 and I wanted to challenge something new too. When I tried the lyrics were a little embarrassing but I could write them straight. The others' solos are all different from mine, there are dance songs, it's nice to show different characters. Shige's song is all into Shige's personal world but it's catchy, exquisite!
Yukata date ♥
Going to a matsuri wearing a yukata, wonderful~.
The ideal Summer date! I want to visit the temple during the festival and always hold her hand inside the crowd. I want to taste that feeling of never parting one from another!! Now that I'm imagining it's not the temple of my birthplace though, it's a big festival somewhere. We could park the car somewhere near and then walk to the city. The train would be too crowded so it's no good (lol). Then we would surely play target practice. Or yoyo fish~ Ah~ Sounds funny♪ I never had a date like this...I really want one (downhearted).

Solo music ♥ "PeekaBoo..."
I chose this song between many others. Lately I had many comical solo songs so I wanted to try a cool dance number this time. I talked with the staff about the lyrics image and in the end we got Ryohei-san to write them. I often listen to his songs, the staff suggested him too. The complete song is very easy to sing, it's just cool. By the way the meaning of the title is like that game where you say "Not there, not there, there it is!" (lol). Between the other members' solos, Shige's "Vampire wa kakukatariki" is interesting and good. It's particular, something that only Shige could write.
Yukata date ♥
Speaking of yukata I think of the fireworks night! I would go to pick her up around 3:30pm and we'd walk slowly to the place. If we arrive a little earlier we could wait for the fireworks eating yakisoba and icecream. I would prepare a surprise for her, a special firework. The announcer says "And now from Masuda-san to the girl besides him..." and a red heart-shaped firework appears! Isn't this cool? (lol) These are my plans. I'd leave all the rest to my partner (lol).
SHIGE
Solo music ♥ "Vampire wa kakukatariki"
I didn't mean to be into vampires that much but I'm interested in it since last year. When I was writing the book I thought that one day I'd like to use the theme somewhere and I studied it. Vampires have been used a lot since the past but there are many theories about it, it's interesting. It's a challenge because they can be analyzed from a lot of different points. So this time I decided to use it for my solo song. It's a story that only I could write, I wanted it to be something like "music to read". This time everybody showed his personality through the solos. It's unexpected to see Koyama writing lyrics and singing a ballad, so romantic~ Koyamacchi ♥ My song smells all shigeshige too (lol).

Yukata date ♥
After all it must be fireworks. When everybody's looking at the fireworks, she's looking at them too, I want to look only at her face and then kiss her by surprise. I want to steal her lips while she watches fireworks, huuu!! Like being charmed by fireworks and her at the same time? Let's launch everything! That's bad, I got over-excited (lol). Then I hope her reaction is that she blushes cutely. If things get fired up...I leave the rest to imagination! (lol)

TEGOSHI
Solo music ♥ "Addict"
This is the first song that I create all by myself. This single includes a lot of our own opinions, so I wanted to write my solo too. I mixed in it many elements, I wanted people to think "What genre is this?". I created first the melody using the pc. The theme of the lyrics is the different point of view of girls and boys about love. A boy after a breakup spends time with his friends while a girl in sadness goes seatching for another boyfriend. I thought this was interesting so I wrote it adding a night atmosphere.
Yukata date ♥
We'd meet in the afternoon with our normal clothes, we'd eat a light dinner drinking champagne. Then we'd go to do shopping and choose each other's yukata for the fireworks night. We'd get ready there ♥ Seeing the girl I like wearing a yukata my tension will surely go up (lol). Once we reach the fireworks place we'd buy some food by a stand, by the end we'd be full and we could go to the beach. If we are not dating yet it'd be the perfect chance to confess! ...Ah, if you don't date you wouldn't go together to choose a yukata though (lol)
NEWS passion boy is...
1st. Tegoshi
Undisputed in his 1st position is Tegoshi, the boy who never betrays our expectations.
Massu: "He's the type to write a song for his girlfriend, and sing it playing the guitar for her"
Tegoshi: "No need to tell! I don't feel any shame!"
Shige: "He has that image of 'Follow me'"
Koyama: "He's passionate at work too. That passion drags all of us, he's the passion leader"

The romanticist Koyama is unbeaten at the 2nd place.
Massu: "He'd do something like...'I'll catch a star for you, that's your ring'"
Koyama: "I want to bring her in a hotel to watch the night scenery and whisper her love words!"
Shige: "He would make come true every girls' desires"
Tegoshi: "He never gets tired"
3rd. Massu & Shige
Koyama and Tegoshi said that Massu & Shige are in the same place because they're the types to hide their passion.
Masuda: "I'm not very passionate but I wish to become like that more than Shige"
Shige: "I never show my passion to other people. I will only to my girlfriend"
Masuda: "So cool~ I'm not positive, I can't surprise her but I still want to be more passionate than Shige (lol)"
