Weekly The TV 25.01.2012

"Pink & Gray" a shocking long novel that describes the cruel fate of two young men in the showbusiness world. Writing a novel in his twenties has always been a dream for Kato Shigeaki, who with this work begins his career in the literary world.

I've always loved to write and read books, I've always thought that I wanted to write something before turning 25. Now I'm close to that age and I decided a deadline, I had to write during the 2011. I wrote the book working hard on it in one month and half. I don't usually praise myself but this time I really did my best.

There a lot of descriptions that describe well people and real tv shows but Kato had no intention to "reveal the backstage of showbiz world". He swears it's all fiction and explained to us: "What I wanted was nothing but a story-like reality".

There is a boy who reach the top of stardom and another who doesn't succeed, they are childhood friends. I wanted to write about them since the beginning. The tone is sad and pitiful. In reality I'm a pretty gloomy person, you know... (lol). To joke when I gave a copy to Koyama I signed it (lol), when he read the summary he asked me: "This Kawada (Daiki) is you, isn't he?". It's not like that, Gocchi (Suzuki Shingo) is me too. They both are. All the characters are miserable in some way, but there's also some happiness...I'd like people to experience at the end of the book a feeling like "I wasn't expecting this at all!". I created an unusual happy ending.

The structure in which the chronological order is shuffled is successful, towards the end the tension speeds up more and more. On the other side, the description of the youth's love is absolutely pure.

I'm not good myself to express feelings directly, like an "I love you", so I got really irritated. I kept thinking: "They're impossible!" (lol). I wrote that thinking of high school students talking about love going on the swing.

It's a first novel full of enthusiasm and hard-work. The book that might interest a wide range of readers.

I'd like people who love to read books to read it. It'd be sad if there are people who won't read them only because I'm an idol. When I was writing it I wanted it to be one of those books that it's a waste if you don't read them. Of course I want fans to read it as well. Anyway I thought that writing only for my fans wasn't fair. That's why instead of writing a simple love story I wanted to challenge something that I really like. I want to say without any excuses: "This is my work. This is who I am".

[After the final answer I feel so proud and moved...he's just the best person in the world for me ♥ My respect for him is endless ♥
In this interview I also liked that they added a literary description of the book, made me really curious...also about the possible love story hinted by Shige? Who knows... :)]
