My Asylum Post

Sorry girls, this is going to be looooong

So Asylum?

In one word? Awesome!

It was so cool to meet so many of you, to hang out and to squee over SPN.

But maybe I should do this thing in the right order:

I had to take the train leaving at 8:20 a.m. on Friday. Everything went well until we started running late, because we had to drive behind another, way slower train. So I was late when I arrived at Frankfurt airport and maybe that’s the most important thing I learned this weekend: Don’t be late at Frankfurt Airport. I hurried from the train station to the check-in and there was a very long queue. I knew I was really late and literally started shouting at people who were first in line and wouldn’t move to go to the next free check-in. Argh.

When I was finally there I told the woman that I was late and asked if it would still be possible to check in my suitcase. (I had one of these little ones that are small enough to take into the cabin, but I had too much fluids in it because of the stuff for my contacts.) She said I could and then told me to hurry. So I ran towards my gate, almost died again when there was a huge family in front of me during the hand luggage control that took ages. I put my belt back into my jeans, my watch back on my wrist and started running again, just to be stopped for ANOTHER hand luggage control. Duh, when started the Brits doing that? I knew the Americans did it, but I wasn’t expecting it for a flight within Europe. But luckily that control was right in front of the gate, so they told me I’d definitely be on the plane. And yeah, I was. I was the second but last person to jump in the bus and was really relieved when I was finally in the plane. So relieved that I sat down in the wrong row. It was 7 instead of 6, but the woman whose seat I had taken told me to stay seated, she’d simply take mine.

All during the flight I was checking the plane for possible fangirls because I knew there had to be quite a lot on the plane. But I didn’t see anybody. At baggage claim I finally saw somebody who I recognized as kathrinchen. She was with  sibelle_art  and when I asked her,  supnatural2006  (she just got her LJ yesterday or today, I met her at the Rogue forum) recognized me. There were some more girls, one with a Supernatural top and I later learnt it was

gwaevalarin who was travelling with
dimturien and
verena85.

My roommate

petit_rhino had arrived in Birmingham early in the morining and was already sending me text messages and so Melanie and I took the air-link to the NEC instead of getting a cab.
petit_rhino showed us the way from the NEC to the Hilton and we got there for free in very few minutes.

I didn’t do much on Friday. Hung out in the lobby, laughed at the weird queue at the reception. (Fangirl, fangirl, fangirl, pilot, fangirl, fangirl, business man, fangirl… really I wouldn’t have wanted to be the pilot or the business man). I think I also met  darvynia and   ramoniciu  while waiting. When the registration desk finally opened I started queueing and was lucky to be done soon. I had dinner at the Subway in the NEC and went to the party with my other roommate. It was very slow at first but started to get better, especially when we started dancing.

We were pretty tired, so we went to bed quite early, but that made getting up on Saturday so much easier.

.

We had ignored the queue for the photo tickets on Friday night (because it wasn’t moving at all) and picked ours up before the openeing ceremony started. (Yes, we did that. Didn’t even queue for half an hour. And I heard rumours that people had queued for 3 hours the night before.)

The first panel after the openeing ceremony was Jim and Sterling and it was a very good start. They were funny and interesting and clever and I really enjoyed it. (f-locked pic)

I think Sam was next and she totally took things in her own hands. (f-locked pic) She told us to stay seated and just raise our hands if we had a question. I guess that was a smart thing to do, because I guess a lot of people were a bit afraid to walk up to the microphones and ask their question there. She really is a strong woman and I loved her more every minute the panel lasted. She’d told us that she’d been up for forever because she’d been travelling for so long and felt like taking a shower, but she looked gorgeous. I had my picture taken with her right after the panel and can prove it. (f-locked pic)

I came back in time for Chad’s panel (f-locked pic) and stayed all the time because he was really funny too. I even did the “business up front, party in the back” and complained about the lack of hair. But he did it right away, without us having to organize wigs, like the next day.

Lunch was after that and I had it with the girls I met at the party the night before (I have to look up your LJ, M, but I don't have it with me). We also sat together after that, but unfortunately AJ was late, due to filming schedule changes for the CSI NY season finale. We watched the music videos that had been sent in for the competition and I was just talking to M. how awesome it would be to watch an episode of Supernatural together with everyone when they decided that this was what they were going to do. AWESOME! We watched BUABS and the waiting was so much shorter. They should simply have shown episodes whenever we were waiting and I would have been even more happier than I already was.

Oh, and I also finally met up with amandil12. It was so nice to meet you and I'm sorry we didn't have more time to chat. Give me a call in case you're in the area, you got my cell # now!

Travis’s panel was next and to be honest… I didn’t really care when I saw him being announced. But God did that guy prove me wrong. I’m now officially totally completely in love with him. He seemed very nervous at the beginning but relaxed into it. He even sang the “Ghostfacers” song for us, danced around and was really funny and nice and… hot. God, did you see those arms? He’s definitely working out. And I like my men to have dark hair and not be that tall (Jared, I’ll make an exception from my rule for you). Really, Travis totally did it for me. (f-locked pic)

The girls after him… honestly? Not half as interesting. Lauren is quite the talkative kind and was super nervous at the beginning. I guess because she was really afraid to get dissed by the audience but honestly? Who’d make the effort to go to her panel if he didn’t like her? So of course everybody was nice to her. And to Katie too. I just have to say that I didn’t find them as funny as Travis or as clever and interesting as Jim and Sterling. And from now on I like Lauren better than Katie (she didn’t really say too much - or maybe I was just too tired to listen), even though I still like Ruby better than Bela. Now that’s a first. Lauren was really nice, but honestly... Katie seemed a bit "blonde". (f-locked pic)

We had dinner in our room and when I went back down to hang out in the lobby before Jason’s concert started, I saw AJ (who had finally arrived), Travis and Jim leave. Jim was really passing me less than a foot away and I was this close to jumping him, because… come on… UNCLE BOBBY!!

I missed the first part of Jason’s concert because they’d said it would start later and then it didn’t. Luckily I didn’t miss too much and when I came back from a little break, listened to the last songs with

dimturien. When he was done and Steve was next, we decided it was time to join the crowd on the floor in front of the stage. I was really glad they announced that Steve brought his new album, because I really wanted to get that. But I didn’t want to miss any of this concert, so we got the CD later. There were some sound issues, but when they overcame them and it stopped sounding like one big soundcheck, it was great. It was just weird that he had us stand up, while he stayed seated and totally disappeared behind the crowd. I was lucky that I was taller than most other girls and still got so see him. The only thing missing? He didn’t play “Wonder of My World”, which is probably my favorite Steve song. But that’s okay.

We stayed for the disco and my roommates proved that they’re experts on convention dances. I gave up about half an hour before they showed up in the room, because I was so tired. I guess it was the fact that I had hardly seen any daylight all day and all the English. I understood everything just fine, it’s just that it’s more exhausting to listen to English all day than to German and I usually take a few days to adjust and not be that tired from it any more.

I really didn’t want to miss AJ (f-locked pic) and Travis’s panel on Sunday morning and it was so worth getting up. AJ started on his own first, because he missed his panel on Saturday and Travis joined him later. They were so funny together, especially doing the slow motion walking again. There was a little girl with them on stage later, who had wanted to ask a question but was obviously too scared to do it up front. They slow motion walked with her again.

But these guy… God, they’re so funny together. Amazing chemistry. (f-locked pic)

When they were done I started watching the first part of Lauren’s panel but left, when my number was announced for the autographs. So I started queueing. Sam was first and she was really nice. I had the picture signed I had taken the day before and she said it was a nice one. I told her how gorgeous she looked after having been up for so long and she said I looked very good myself. I told her that I had slept a whole night in a bed, so it didn’t count and she laughed.

Sterling wrote “I’ll be back” (he did that with zillions of people, I think) and I asked him if that was a promise. He said he was trying to make it happen and I told him that even though I was sorry his character had to die, I think he deserved it. He said he could live with that and laughed that laugh of him.

Chad wasn’t much of a talker, that was probably why his line was always incredibly short and moving fast. Jim’s queue was incredibly long (like four times Sam’s) (f-locked pic) and I decided to queue for Steve first, because I really wanted the CD I had bought the night before to get signed. I then started queueing for Jim and it took for ages. Finally I got my autograph and went for lunch, before going in for Jim’s panel. He was late, because he had signed all through his lunch break and needed something to eat. Poor guy. During the panel he got asked the question that became standard for everybody: With who on the set of SPN would you make out with? He said not Jared, because he would have to stand on his toes and he liked his kissing partners to be the ones standing on toes. I couldn’t help myself, I suddenly heard myself shout “Travis”. And I totally blame this on M.'s friend, because she always said what she thought the day before. God, I was so embarrassed. But Jim was so cool about it, saying that he’d just met Travis the day before and what kind of guy I’d think he was because they hadn’t even had a chance to date. (f-locked pic)

I apologized for the Travis-thing when I was having my picture taken with him after the panel, and that’s maybe why we both look the way we do. (f-locked pic)

Sterling’s panel was next and when they brought up his wife and they started talking about their relationship, I decided I’d rather have a Travis autograph than hear that. So I went in and was told to queue for Katie first. But honestly? I wanted to be back in time for the Sam & Chad panel and decided to skip Katie. Lauren’s queue was really short so I got hers. I asked her if her hand was already cramping and she said it was. When I said that it was so nice that she did all that for us, she told me not to be silly. She’s really a super nice person.

I then started queueing for Travis whose line was almost the size of Jim’s in the morning. Argh. But when I started they still had everybody queue in the room and I had the chance to get Jason’s autograph while queueing for Travis. Awesome. I told Jason that I loved his album and his pretty grumpy expression really changed at that and he thanked me.

Then they had the Travis queue split and made half of us wait outside in the fresh air. The air in the room was really bad and I heard that a girl had already fainted. Obviously the aircon wasn’t working properly and there were just so many people in a not too huge room. So I got some fresh air while queueing with nyaubaby. When I got my Travis autograph I decided to skip AJ too (I’d have loved to get his, but another thing I learnt is that I like panels better than autographs) and rush back and get as much of the Sam & Chad panel as possible. And I did. I got to see mini Sam and Dean (I’d be scared if I were their mother) and all the wigs.

I picked up my Jim picture after this and went up to the room, where all three of us had a nap before searching for the party. The party obviously started late and so I hung out in the lobby where I saw first Travis and then Katie and Lauren walk back into the hotel. The girls next to me called out for Travis but they didn’t for Katie and Lauren and I felt bad for them. So I waved hi and Lauren waved back. I told you she was nice.

I ran into  supnatural2006 again, who had her picture with Jim signed, because he too was still in the lobby. Stupid me who brought the photo to the room. Argh. But while we were chatting, Katie, Lauren, Travis and some other girl walked out of the lobby in one line, their arms around each other. Really cute.

We later wanted to try the party but there was really nothing going on. It was Karaoke but hardly anybody was there at all and the music in between was horrible. So we just went to the lounge bar thing in the lobby and talked until it was time for bed.

The German girls going to Frankfurt had decided to meet between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. and when I came down at 7:30 I realized they were taking the hotel shuttle to the airport. It was fully booked, so I just started walking towards the NEC and the air-link station. And guess what? I had just entered the airlink when  supnatural2006 (who’d been sitting in the shuttle bus) jumped in and said that due to security restrictions the shuttle dropped them of at the air-link, not at the airport. Duh. It was way faster (and healthier!) to walk.

This time I was at the airport really early and we had time for coffee at starbucks and a Muffin and still managed to have a look at all the stores.
The flight was pretty uneventful. We were in one row with kathrinchen and sibelle_art and supnatural2006 seemed a bit afraid. First that her precious pictures would end up in the cabinets above us (I managed to put them under my front seat - her's was too small) and then that the shaking of the plane meant something. I suggested to hum Metallica :D

In Frankfurt I had to run again, because we had to wait a bit at baggage claim and I really wanted to catch my train and not wait another hour. So I left right away when my suitcase appeared and started running again. Luckily I made it to the station just in time (two minutes before the train arrived) and got home safely.

It was really such an awesome weekend. It's so bad that my real life problems found me again. I'd rather continue discussing the hotness of Sam and Dean and the main problem being who the hottest Winchester was.

I've decided to post my pictures in a f-locked post, so look out for the next one in case you're interested.
