I've been having a totally shit day but then this made my night:
He waited for another week before he finally caved. Like, dropped-everything-he-was-doing-in-the-middle-of-the-night-and-ran-to-the-phone-tearfully caved. Only without the dropping, running and crying parts. But calling Renji after insisting he wouldn't was such a defeat that it felt just as dramatic.
Along with the rest of the chapter, and this awesomely amazing story in its entirety.
I loved the first part of this chapter so hard. First, the part where Renji showed up at Ichigo's place after all of that, not really knowing exactly why he came, and Ichigo just, well, handling it all pretty well really, only wanting to know what happened. And, you got me right in the gut when you talked about the instinct to get back up and keep fighting when you're knocked down...and about the need to remember. I keep wanting to thank you for writing about that, so, uh, thanks
( ... )
and I don't think Ichigo's sketchbook is the only thing recording how comfortable the two of them have become together. LOL, suddenly I feel like a stalker for writing all of this about these poor dudes.
