1. I do have a few very close friends who I consider family at this point, but 1 person in particular is definitely the closest person to me in this world (even closer than blood relatives) and I guess it's not too complicated how he came to be considered my best friend. We were partners for 8 1/2 years having met in the bay area in California and then moved to New York about 9 years ago together. We remained partners for another 5 years after getting here and then ended that part of our relationship due to certain irreconcilable differences but have remained very close since the awkward phase of that ended. We still share the same "family plan" for our mobile phones 4 years after splitting up and while lately we've been on very different paths, we still keep updated on each other's activities via text messages on our mobile phones, often several times a day. I think a lot of it has to do with us being the same age, having hooked up when we were 20 and then spending the majority of our 20s together. I've known him a bit longer than anyone else I've met out here and we have that history together and know what makes each other tick. The big problems in life we can't think of anyone else to talk through with we bring to each other.

2. That list is so long and contains a few that have a seriously low probability of ever happening, and should never happen thanks to the inhibitions my mother instilled in me at a very early age to avoid contagions that are hazerdous to my health. That aside, I'm plotting right now with someone else I met briefly at MAL to lock my boyfriend in his "boy box" on wheels at IML in the lobby this year and push him around. If I can get him past the mental barrier he has right now, there will be some electrodes involved wired up to him in the box that we can take turns hitting the buttons on. I'd have to say that one is at the top of my list right now since it has the highest probability of happening in the near future.

3. This is such a complicated one for me since I bounce around so many different genres and my tastes have refined over time. However, if I had to go by what has withstood the test of time for me:

bands - Babes in Toyland, L7, and Lunachicks
vocalists - Kat Bjelland, Jessicka (of Jack Off Jill and Scarling) and Nina Hagen

I could probably expound on that for hours, but suffice it to say, my roots in '90s Riot Grrls and reaching into my childhood listening to Nina Hagen, I'd have to say that female vocalists have held a lot more sway with me sonically than anything else...especially ones that can scream through cathartic songs. I once described to someone my taste in music as something not so much to be enjoyed as to be endured.
