Oh, Something Blue, you always hold a place in my heart as the first episode of Buffy I ever watched all the way through... and also as the first time I laid eyes on the Marsters. To think, if I hadn't been flipping through the channels and stopped thinking, "That's the hottest guy I've ever seen!" I would have never been apart of so many things I now hold dear. *hugs the episode*
School Hard plays as if the writers knew how important Spike was going to become. The best and most interesting character in the Buffyverse gets the best introduction. And the Spuffy undercurrents were already there. Look at the blood on Spike's face and paint on Buffy's. Even Drusilla knows the princess is going to hand off her knight.
Something Blue is the only romantic Spuffy we get. And the jokes had me unable to sit straight. Willow and D'Hoffryn are pitch perfect. Oh, and the neck teasing.
I haven't decided yet. These are two of my most-rewatched episodes. I expect even the four year old has seen them about ten times.
As iconic as School Hard is with that magnificently unforgettable entrance and the sizzling Spuffy scene in the Bronze and just about everything else brilliant about the episode, I went with Something Blue.
Don't get me wrong, I lamented! This was HARD. SOOOOO Hard. School Hard. *giggle* I kill myself.
But Something Blue just has too many fab moments overall that display the awesomeness of Spike, all the aspects of Spuffy that I love, the fruit roll-ups with Xander/Anya/Giles... the evil Angel ambiguity, Buffy feverishly trying to make the perfect Thanksgiving dinner, confused Riley.... I just love it all. Can't ask for a more insane and LOL episode. Also, Spike making fun of Buffy's name and her nipping at his ear... and the look on both their faces when the spell's broken?
That's it. No more posting when I'm dead tired and have been up all night. This is getting bad. I've started merging the great aspects of certain episodes and thinking they're another episode altogether.
What is my deal lately? I know these eps like the back of my hand. *runs from dementia*
