(no subject)

I posted this at SMG and may be laughed out of there, because some of them hate Spike and the idea that he's anything but a low life that Buffy was kind too. Some also feel that Spike (and Anya) destroy the verse with their very existence.

Anyway, thought I'd post it here, too.

Why did the Scoobies accept Anya, even though she shows no remorse for her actions? The only thing I can figure was that Anya became a human being. Being a vengeance demon would be dealt with by the slayer, but even if you have wreaked havoc for a thousand years, once you have a soul without demon essence than you have to go by the rules of society. Once souled you aren't really responsible for your actions when under the power of supernatural forces. This is why Willow doesn't really have to pay for her actions when she tried to kill everyone in the world. It was a supernatural occurence that the slayer should deal with. Once human, it is out of the slayer's hands.

Souled vampires are similar to Clem and Lorne. There are no specific rules about them, because there is a demon essence in there, but they still do good.

If Spike not being a special vampire is bothersome to people, then there are plenty of arguments that could be made that say he WAS a special case, possible a vampire of prophecy. In fact, there's indication that both Angel and Spike were both vampires of prophecy and special cases.

Whistler: Hello to the imagery! Very nice. It wasn't supposed to go down like this. Nobody saw you coming. I figured this for Angel's big day. But I thought he was here to *stop* Acathla, not to bring him forth.

hmmmm....What if the "vampire with the soul" did help to "stop" Acathla, except that he didn't have a soul yet?

Another argument that Angel and Spike are both vampires of prophecy.. Is this pose directed by Joss coincidence or on purpose? This of course is the "creation of man". Not sure if I can wank it, but the first time I saw their hands posed like that, this came into my mind.

What about when Buffy opens the book in LIFE SERIAL and we see the picture of the sculpture in Rome, "ecstasy of St. Teresa"?

http://aras.org/se_ecstasy.html

The archetypal commentary in this link is interesting. Spuffy, season six and seven could be symbolic of Teresa's vision.

And what of Angel? He was obviously not meant to stake Darla but have a child, as prophecies stated it would happen. Is she not a special case too? And Drusilla, who had been a nun and sire to Spike?

So, yeah, if there is a problem with Spike NOT being special and Buffy committing some sort of genocide, then think of it like those four vampires were a small number of special cases, among many..

Another way to look at all this? When Willow did the spell for Buffy to make all the potentials slayers, it was a good thing, but there were special cases where it wasn't. Dana is one of them. You can't declare that Buffy made a mistake though..

(and If you can't buy into any of this, at least they are some pretty pictures.. ;) )

ETA: I had decided to make this entry private, but then rethought it since people had wanted to discuss it.. It's so "all over the place" and really it's due to the fact of all the different subjects we were discussing on SMGfan. It just kind of hit on a variety of points but on LJ, you guys probably have no clue where my mind is at.

prophecies., ecstasy of st. teresa
