Just in case someone out there in LJ land hasn't seen this.. Admittedly I was more "obsessed" with BTVS, but I felt that the characters by the end of ATS were far more loveable. Also, as I said at CDS and various other places, Spike's journey from BTVS to ATS moved me more than any other. What James, Joss and the other writers did was create ( Read more... )

I've read this before... but seriously this letter is just so Joss... I love Joss LOL.

--Angel locking a roomful of lawyers in with two peckish vampire gals
--Darla's horrified accusation, "While Spike - SPIKE - was out killing a Slayer, you were busy saving Missonaries!... From me." (True emotional Vampire logic, courtesy of Tim Minear.)
--The biggest, bloodiest and most personal Spike/Angel fight we've ever shot.
--The silliest, most pointless Spike/Angel argument we've ever shot.

Some of the best senses of the series. Especially Darla’s accusation, in a weird way one of the reasons why I like the ship.

Tim Minear wrote some of the great episodes. I don't mind him writing a Spike movie--at all. (and DESTINY fight kicked ass)

Well, I had some problems with that episode. Harmony/Spike's love scene could have played out sexier and not just..that. (worse Spike love scene ever--and I swore he couldn't do a bad one) I thought they made Drusilla rather pitiful in this episode, and although she's insane, she came across as a sad shell of a woman who has no thought process of her own. (although it definitely made for good vidding fodder)

The rest of it was incredible though.

didn't they mention they tried it different and it didn't work or something? I should re-watch the commentary.

True, but I liked how Juliet thought of it as the beginning of her learning from Spike. Also I think they had to do SOMETHING to make Angelus come off so unbearable in the episode, you know what I mean?

In FOOL FOR LOVE and LMPTM (before Spike's influence) she WAS shown really cute, adorable and quirky, but in this episode it did seem like she was a shell with no real thought process -- being used and treated horribly by Angelus, while not realizing it or understanding much of anything around her.

I think Fury mentioned that the scene didn't come off as planned, that it had been intended to be "joyful" and it didn't come off that way.

Skip Schoolnick probably directed that one. Bwa! I know Fury said he hated that and wish he'd been there to direct it. I'm not sure what I was seeing, but it wasn't joyful.
