Slaves in the Nightmare

The room was filled with somber people. The news of her death had traveled to the most unusual people and as Eeteuk looked around he realized that some of them he hadn’t seen since that fateful night two years ago. It was then that many of them had parted ways. At least TaeYeon’s death had done something good. They weren’t fighting, that was something to be eternally thankful for. Eeteuk gripped the inside of his jacket pocket then slowly walked to the center of the circle that had formed.

“I don’t really know how to begin this. We’re all here for the same thing, I suspect.” Eeteuk heard a few breaths catch, but so far there were no tears, just the never ending mumbling from Changmin. He was in the back and Micky was doing his best to console the poor man. It must have been terrifying to see something that terrible. From what Eeteuk had seen in the news reports there wasn’t much of TaeYeon to really see, she was just a body amidst a lot of blood. Changmin stood suddenly.

“Y-you all knew her. We loved her; we were like siblings, right? She’s gone. She’s gone, but…someone killed her, right? Someone did. We have to find the person. What they did…” Changmin’s voice caught and he slowly turned from the crowd, his body stiff. Micky quickly grabbed him in an embrace.

Eeteuk looked into the eyes of each person in the room. “Changmin’s right. We have to do our best to give information to the police and help in every way possible. TaeYeon was someone special to each one of us, in one way or another.” Eeteuk’s eyes met Kangin's for a brief moment before he slowly let them drop to stare at the floor.

Kibum stepped forward, placing a hand on Eeteuk’s arm. “I don’t know about the rest of you, but the last time I saw TaeYeon was two years ago. It probably wasn’t the best decision to just push her away. Now I think I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.”

Suddenly the door slammed open and Donghae, with SooYoung in tow ran into the room. The room became still and every body turned to the two. “Why didn’t anyone tell me about this?” Donghae sounded a little hurt and SooYoung nodded behind him.

“We didn’t know how to get in touch with you.” Eeteuk said a little harshly. He cleared his throat and a few of the others nodded. Donghae dropped SooYoung’s hand and adjusted his shirt, which probably cost him a multitude of money.

“After you became famous we thought you had forgotten about the little people.” Eunhyuk spat out, the anger still evident even though all these years had passed.

Donghae stared at the group. “So, because you’re jealous or something you just decide to keep it all to yourselves?”

“You heard it on the news didn’t you?” Sungmin stood up from the chair that he inhabited. “We obviously didn’t have to tell you anything. You found this place pretty well on your own, good thing you remembered. I would have thought you pushed all of your past out of your memories, considering if there were any evidence of having ties with some of us your career would be in shambles, right?”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Donghae moved closer to Sungmin, pushing Eunhyuk out of the way. The stress of the situation caused the whole group to get involved in the fight. Kangin pulled Donghae away from Sungmin, who was being held back by Eeteuk, Heechul and JaeJoong. The screaming only stopped when a wail could be heard from across the room.

“What is everyone’s problem? What happened to us?” Changmin had his hands buried in his hair. “We use to be so close, and you are all fighting over some stupid petty fight when Yeonie’s only been dead a day?”

Donghae let his body relax and Kangin let him go. “He’s right. I came here to see you all, not to fight, but to…I don’t know…just to see you.” SooYoung nodded, looking over at Jessica who turned her face away a little. There were just some grudges that would never really go away.

JaeJoong cleared his throat and the whole room became quiet. “I saw TaeYeon the night before she was murdered.”

“What?” It seemed like the whole room screamed that one word.

“You saw her, and you didn’t tell anyone?” Kibum looked at JaeJoong suspiciously and everyone stood and stared at JaeJoong, waiting for him to continue.

“I mean, at the time I didn’t think anything of it, but she wasn’t herself…” JaeJoong let his voice trail off and Eunhyuk sighed.

“Really, we would actually like a little bit of an explanation.”

“She called me out of the blue and told me a couple things that made me think I should go and see her.” JaeJoong shrugged, his eyes drifting to Micky then quickly back to the rest of the group. “I think I ought to go to the police.”

“Wow, really? That didn’t already cross your mind?” Heechul rolled his eyes.

Jessica shook her head. “Don’t insult him, the shock probably caused him to forget everything.” She put his hand on JaeJoong’s shoulder, and JaeJoong smiled at her.

“Don’t defend him just because you’re dating him, he could be a suspect.” Donghae huffed, his face a little pink.

“Actually, to be honest with you all, you’re all wanted for questioning.” Everyone jumped and turned to the slim figure leaning against the wall.

“Kyuhyun…” Sungmin was the first to breathe his name and everyone looked at each other.

“So, I’ll need each one of you to come and give a police report.” Kyuhyun’s eyes never softened at the sight of his former set of friends. There was a flicker of something but it went away as fast as it came and he pushed away from the wall. “It’s weird seeing us all together like this, but there’s a few people missing, right? Well, except for the obvious…” Changmin visibly cringed.

“Yeah, now that you say something, Yunho, HanKyung, Sunny, Shindong, Siwon and Ryeowook aren’t here today....” It was the first thing that Kangin had said and a couple people shifted their eyes to the people who would probably know their whereabouts.

Sungmin lifted his eyes and smiled a bit. “Sunny said she couldn’t make it because of work.”

Heechul shrugged. “HanKyung, I haven’t really talked to him about this. He wasn’t really close to TaeYeon anyway. Siwon said he'd pray for her soul, but he's at a business meeting in Japan.”

Everyone turned to Yesung who was surprisingly quiet, and without his witty sense of humor. Which, was understandable, he had loved TaeYeon for a while. “Ryeowook will be here as soon as he’s free from helping the company.”

Kyuhyun nodded and then explained everything. “I’ll need to take each of you in a separate room to ask you a few questions. My partner is with me,” He cringed a little at the title. Guess some things never changed. Kyuhyun never liked working with anyone. “He’s an idiot, but he’ll ask you a few questions after, to make sure your stories are straight.”

Kyuhyun smiled, it didn’t meet his eyes, and it didn’t put anyone at ease. Eeteuk sighed and stepped forward. “I have nothing to hide. I’ll talk first.”

Kyuhyun nodded. “Always the leader, eh Eeteuk?”

Eeteuk’s back stiffened and he followed Kyuhyun without another word.

Changmin started to fidget a little and looked up at Micky with big eyes. “Should I tell him I saw her?”

Micky paused and thought for a second. It was a huge deal that Changmin ran from the body, but could anyone really blame him? “If you want to tell them, tell them Changmin. It’s better to be honest about everything, right?” Micky sighed; there was so much contradiction to that one statement that he could have laughed a little. It would have probably come out a little crazy if he did. Plus, mourning the death of a friend, it wasn’t very appropriate to just burst into laughter randomly. He looked up and saw that JaeJoong was staring at him. He knew that there was a lot that he had to explain. He wasn’t sure that he could without being a suspect, and without making other people suspects also. They would know sooner or later. They’d do the autopsy, and see that this wasn’t just one homicide it was indeed two.

JaeJoong started to walk closer to Micky and he decided that it was time to talk about it. “I have something to say to you all.” It earned everyone’s immediate attention. “TaeYeon was pregnant.”

There were several whispers in the crowd and Micky shrugged a little. “I guess my reputation isn’t much better no matter how much I tried to fix myself.” Kangin burst away from the group and grabbed Micky’s collar, throwing him against the wall. His eyes were filled with fiery anger and Micky looked at him steadily.

“I knew you’d react this way. Could this be a motive?” Micky smirked a little and Kangin let him go.

“I would never hurt TaeYeon, no matter how stupid she acted.” Kangin spat at Micky’s feet. "When did she find out? You have a motive then also, if you never wanted the baby.” Micky shook his head. There was no doubt that he wanted that baby more than anything in the world.

Micky looked at a few people in the crowd and finally his eyes settled on JaeJoong. “She found out a couple days ago. We went to the beach for a vacation last month, and…it just happened. I’m not proud of it, and now I lost something I was looking forward to having. She was going to keep it…”

Kangin shook his head. “Don’t you feel a little bit of remorse?”

“I loved TaeYeon, why would I have felt bad about that?” Micky shrugged and looked down; his eyes were clouding over with the tears he should’ve shed a long time ago. “She’s really gone isn’t she?”

Changmin hugged Micky’s shoulders. It was as if the roles had been reversed, it was time for Changmin to console Micky. JaeJoong stepped out of the group and moved closer to Micky.

“She called me to let me know about what had happened. Something in her voice told me she needed me. If she was happy about the baby, why would she have sounded so…scared?” JaeJoong stared at Micky.

“It was only after she talked to you that she told me. She was scared that I would reject her and the baby completely.” Micky laughed. “How heartless did she think I was? I only knew of my baby's existence for less that 24 hours...but I know I loved it... Now there's nothing to depend on. I just...I don't know why she was so scared.”

“Well, you aren’t the epitome of loyalty.” Micky’s eyes focused on who was standing behind JaeJoong and a slow smile crept on his face.

“It’s good to know you have continued to have confidence in me, Yunho.” JaeJoong’s eyes got as wide as saucers and he quickly turned around. Yunho smiled and wrapped him in a hug.

“You’re back?” JaeJoong’s voice sounded soft and excited.

“Of course, I couldn’t miss the excitement, could I?” There were a couple beats of awkward silence. “Okay, so maybe that wasn’t the best choice of words…”

Heechul piped up, “I’m glad your back, at least you add a bit of that awkwardness back into the world. I think we all need some awkward laughs.”

Yunho smiled and it was then that Eeteuk stepped out of the room.

Micky buried his hands in his pocket. His heart started to speed up, and he sighed. “I guess I might as well get this over with.” He looked up at the ceiling, trying to keep the tears that had formed in his eyes from crying. JaeJoong clapped a hand on his shoulder.

“Just be honest.”

Micky laughed. “Yes, for the first time in a long time.”

A/N: Okay I had way too much fun with this. *sigh* I had to make Micky a semi-whore. I love him too much.
Hope you like it! I'll be updating this one frequently, or trying to. I'm going to the zoo tomorrow!! WHOO
