i don't care about whether or not people do drugs. if people want to take care of themselves then that's cool, but when they start acting like they belong to some sort of cult where they have all these rules like "you can't eat chocolate, it's a DRUG!" and it's just so strict, and i don't see why you have to parade around that you dont do drugs...fucking X's on your calves like anyone really gives a shit...there are so many people who don't do drugs and who take care of themselves that don't try to push it on other people and act like it's the cool new thing...it's a fucking fad, half the kids i know that say they're "edge" have more sex than anyone i know, most people don't really live the lifestyle...and i just think that taking it so seriously is dumb. like if you're sick you won't take a tylenol because it's "against your beliefs" that to me is just stupid.

so anyway

1. if you think eating chocolate is taking drugs, dying your hair is. learn to read a definition. it's drug "use" isn't it? how is dying hair "nothing" but eating chocolate is "something?" dying hair actually ends up damaging your hair, where chocolate might give you a temporary high from caffeine but doesn't really do any damage, except someone getting fat maybe.
2. i like how you think it's funny but then you get all offended about a minute later
3. you do care that people do those things, otherwise why would you protest their behavior? why wouldn't you just live the straightedge lifestyle instead of being like LOOK AT ME! I HAVE A STRAIGHTEDGE TATTOO! OMG CHECK IT OUT I DONT DO THOSE THINGS! BECAUSE ITS COOL TO NOT DO THOSE THINGS! if you didn't care what anyone did, you wouldn't be making a statement.

DUMB.

i got the straight tattoo for myself...not to show off to other people...and i don't see it as a problem to be proud of who i am. and hte cult thing...i see where you're coming from...but i have friends who are straight edge and i have more friends who aren't...its not like its some exclusive group...i don't think i'm better then anyone else because i'm straight edge...i do think its a very positive thing for a lot of people...and theres no reason to give people shit about it.

so to sum up the whole thing...
i don't eat chocolate because it has caffiene...mostly because caffiene gives me migraines even in very small amounts.
i haven't dyed my hair in well over a year so even by your definition i'm straight edge...but i don't consider dying your hair using a drug.
i didn't get offended..just asked a question.
i don't protest anyone's behavior...people do what they want...not my issue.
i have a straight edge tattoo because its a lifestyle that i'm committed to that i'm very proud of...not because i think its a cool thing to do.
however i do think that not doing drugs is cool...but i'm not going to think badly about someone just because they do drugs and i'm not straight edge because i think its cool...its more probably that i think not doing drugs is cool because i'm straight edge.

no matter what you say about how you got that tattoo for "yourself", it is always something to show off to people. i am sure as soon as you got it done you went around going "hey check this out" so right there when you did that it wasnt for yourself, but it was for others to see! if you had gotten it for yourself, you wouldnt have even mentioned having a edge tattoo you silly fuck

you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about...when i buy a a new shirt or new pants and i'm wearing it...i'm like "yeah i just got these" its about the same when i got my tattoo...seriously...i got the tattoo to confirm my commitment to the lifestyle...not so other people can be like "oh thats so cool"

i got my back tattoo because its something i live by...not because i wanted people to look at it.

and for the record...she mentioned my straight edge tattoo...before i did.

and for the record...i have no problem with people knowing that i'm straight edge...its something that i am very proud of.

so please just stop talking about how people are straight edge because its the cool thing to do...just realize that its such a positive thing for so many people...and it has been a very positive thing for me.

and yeah yeah drugs have done things for people too...i get it...thats fine i never said people can't do drugs...just that i won't.

wrong, the idea of getting a tattoo is to get something that has meaning like you said, it reaffirms your lifestyle BUT, do remember that it is also going to show that your gloating over the fact that your straightedge........ but you do realize that if you were truly sXe-core you wouldnt even have the tatts because of the inks making your body impure..........

silly edge arrogance

you are such a fucking idiot...you clearly know nothing about what it is to be straight edge...stop being so stupid.

actually i was straightedge until i was 16.......... to be straightedge your to make a vow to keep ur body pure....... no drugs, no nothing that can harm your body.....

5 years ago thats the way it was, then again times do change.

i have nothing against people who are straightedge, but it bothers me till no end when you get those lil poser hardcore/sXe kids that get violent just because people like myself like to drink/smoke/etc.

but if they wanna be truly straight edge....... its nothing going into the body that is going to make it impure.......

no drugs, alcohol, hairdye, tattoos, promiscuous sex, or legal ones like aspirin and caffeine

okay honestly...tattoos and hairdye have nothing to do with straight edge...

and you were 16? is that really even straight edge...

if you aren't straight edge now you never were

straight edge til 16?

or basically until you got the chance not to be?

sbearcat83 November 17 2004, 23:58:45 UTC
you say that now, but when you do something u will be like "it was only a mistake"....

like i said i dont hate straightedge people its their choice, but just because i dont do it, dont chastize me.......

and by the way.... hair is carbon-matter..... its alive, and infact grows for up to a year after the body is dead.........

tattoos yes they arenot an addictive drug, they make the body impure by causing the skin tissue to force it to scar over, plus remember just like with piercings, not all bodies accept them.

for someone who is sXe your awfully hateful of someone....... i cant wait till you hit the real world..... i really cant, maybe u can see why people make the choices they do, but like i said, keep living in that arrogant shell of yours

you can't wait til i hit the real world? what the fuck are you talking about? like you're some all knowing guy...and you're what 21? thats 2 years older then me...and i bet i have more experience with a "real world" then you do.

and the whole when i do something...sorry buddy...its not gonna happen.

Hair isn't alive, by any definition. If you really want to get technical, the hair folicals are alive, and the produce the 'carbon matter' hair. By the hair itself is by no means alive.

This reply isn't supporting either of your sides, but I find the arguement that dyeing hair is bad because the hair is alive, repulsive.

if you aren't straight edge now you never were

that's why even as a belief system it's so incredibly flawed...that's like me telling someone who converted to some other religion who used to be christian that they never were christian because they didn't stick with their original belief.

and you keep missing my original point, which was that under a strict definition of drug use hairdye applies. now you can whine and cry about it all you want, but that's just like me reading in leviticus that anyone who eats shrimp is committing a sin. i think it's stupid, but i still see that according to the definition of things we shouldn't do, eating shrimp is on the list. do i still eat shrimp? sure. we can go against some beliefs that we think are silly, we just can't go around "oh this rule is bullshit" or "i follow all the rules...i'm such a strict follower of the belief...except for ummm this part but it doesn't count"

i really wish you'd just understand my original point and drop it. it was about hair dye. and it was about the poser kids on myspace. since you replied, guess that's what you are then too right? or are you just deciding to play messiah to all the fakes today
