World War Three Broke Out at My House Today

Oct 13, 2007 16:39

I got home from the grocery store, let myself in, let Boxer and Moses out, and before I could set down my purse, WWIII broke out in the backyard.

Apparently, (Jeremy figured this out by looking at the ground after things calmed down and finding bits of fake ear lying about) Moses hadn't eaten all his "Better'n'Ears" fake pig's ear I'd given him (I'd given one to Boxer inside the house, too.) before I left for WW and errands.

Boxer, being Boxer, when he went outside, jumped on the ear.

Moses took exception.

I yelled (my throat is raw -- I hadn't realized till later how hard I'd yelled). I threw the water bowl. (This all in, say, two seconds.) Then I grabbed the shovel that lives by the back door and walloped the living crap out of Moses. I hit him broadside with the back of the shovel blade and that knocked him loose from Boxer so he could get away. Box ran back into the house, crying.

When I hit Mo, he was trying to bite Box's spine. I really don't "do" violence but I had no choice. The only real injury that Boxer finished with was a torn toenail. He very likely did that himself 'cause Moses wasn't biting Boxer's feet. Boxer had also been bitten on the back on the neck and on the, for lack of a better term, front of the neck. Neither of those places had punctures, though.

Then Jeremy came home. (He's home for a few days for Fall Break.) He went out of his mind when he found out that the dogs had fought. I had to pull him off of Moses. Three times.

I'm still shaking like that cliche-ridden leaf, two hours later.

And then, just to top everything off, Jeremy had poured a whole coffee-maker-basket full of coffee grounds down the bathroom sink. *beats head on door* I had to go to the store, buy more Drano, and unclog the massively clogged up plumbing.

Why, oh why, would an intelligent young man pour coffee grounds down the bathroom sink???

P.S. We've brought Moses back in the house because of the heat outside, but have got him closed up in the back end of the house (kitchen and dining room) while Boxer's still recovering in the living room.

dogs, family
