Napoleon sprinted forward, alarmed by the earsplitting shrieks emanating from the car he’d rammed.
A chattering crowd, partaking of the lunchtime excitement, surrounded the damaged vehicles. Both front ends were crumpled, steam pouring from beneath their hoods.
A girl huddled behind the wheel of a once sleek convertible. “My life’s ruined,” she wailed. “I’m hiring a lawyer and suing.”
“It’s not that bad,” he soothed.
“My father’s going to kill me when I tell him I disobeyed his rule against driving in the city.”
Napoleon would happily trade places. He had to tell his Old Man the Thrush courier escaped.
An earsplitting scream drew the attention of Solo and Kuryakin, who raced toward the sound. Several trainees surrounded a furious colleague near a door marked “restricted.” She had been blasted with steam when attempting to open a specially rigged door. “Had to disobey orders, eh, Crumley?” Jules Cutter taunted. “My office, one hour. Dismissed.” The group dispersed and Cutter nodded at Illya. “Excellent trap, Kuryakin.” The trainee shouted after Cutter, “You’ll hear from my lawyer!” “I guess she couldn’t resist the bait,” Solo smiled. “The drive to partake of chocolate is irresistible, even for disciplined agents,” the Russian smirked.
An excellent little scene, DP, and a very good use of the words. I can see it all so very clearly. In particular I did love the last line; I really don't envy Napoleon having that conversation with Mr. W.
