Just when you think things are going well

Sorry I wasn't around much yesterday. I got a text early in the morning from Jeff telling us that he'd spent the night in the ER. He started coughing, had a panic attack and his throat closed up to the point of where he blacked out. Thankfully, that brief moment gave his windpipe a chance to relax and he was able to breathe again. He called 911 and was taken to the hospital. He was back home when he sent the text and asked that we not say anything to anyone, which we respected.

Heard from him again around noon and he was asking if we'd pick up his prescriptions, which TBG did.

After that, he decided on just doing texts to keep from coughing. He said that his daughter was coming to stay with him (arrived last night). While she still has Covid, she will be another person in the house, in case this happens again. I'm glad she has stepped up to the bat for him and I sleep better knowing he's not alone now.

The good news is that Spot is back and looking well. She was friendly and ate a substantial breakfast. I was much relieved to see her. Our little troop is now back together (Spot, Haku, Jack, Grey and Little Black) and all are healthy and fixed. Today we will water around the base of the giant Birds of Paradise, so that they will have some cool spots to hang. We also have a couple of fans, if need be.

Tina is still trying to eat Trouble, but Trouble is starting to stand her ground. both of them slept on the bed last night without incident, although there was a smack down earlier this morning. Sigh... baby steps.

The temperature is heading for 104 today. We are intending to shop early and hide out in the house. We will have to drop some groceries over to Jeff's, but that will be more of a curb side delivery. Tomorrow will be as hot, but we have theatre in the afternoon (nice and cool there) and then Dave Wong's that night. It works for me.

friends, covid, real life and not so much, cats, sick
