I haven’t made an entry in a while and it’s not because stuff hasn’t been happening, but it’s just not really exciting stuff. Being locked down, the only place there is to go is to the grocery store, the post office or the gas station. I can’t remember the last time we put gas in the car. I think it was in Sutter Creek. I remember when we filled up every week…
We are grey and foggy here with the prediction of rain for Friday through Monday. No one is complaining and perhaps if the passes are really bad, people will stay home and stop spreading their viral kind of love. It’s cold, though, colder than usual for us. When the fog burns off, we have sun and it’s lovely, but yesterday that was a mere twenty minutes.
Things are particularly grim here as we have no ICU beds open and our friend faces the cold reality of a needle biopsy for a mass in his lung. We are hoping it will be as an outpatient, but he’s older and not physically strong. Because of that, we have waved our exchanging of gifts for just leaving stuff on his doorstep (and he, ours). It’s sad, but I saw it coming with the weather and all.
We have made plans with Barb. We are going to her place for Christmas Eve, as opposed to Dave Wong’s as is our tradition (I’ve been eating it for a week now and I’m a little tired of Chinese food, even Chinese food I love and have greatly missed). Instead, we are opting for Macaroni Grill take out. Christmas Day, she will come to our place to open gifts and have dinner. That way she won’t be all alone all day.
Otherwise, the days topple one into the next. I can’t believe we are so close to seeing the end of this year. I just wish I had better feelings for 2021.
Stay safe out there!
