Have you ever started working on a story, figuring a few hundred words and it would be done, only to have it take on a life of its own? I was working on a Halloween story, anxious to be done before I got my 'Spook Me' prompts. I got them first, but at least it was the impetus to get the other fic done - all 3,300 words of it. That hasn't happened in a very long time. I rather liked it.
Also, after many years of resisting, we have started watching Downton Abbey and to my delight, I'm enjoying it. It reminds me of all the fun I had with the original Upstairs Downstairs. it used to show on Sunday nights at 6 p.m. back in Vermont on our Canadian channel. My mum decided that Sunday night was her night off from cooking and would get fast food. I can remember many nights of watching that show, eating fish and chips (from Kentucky Fried Chicken of all places) and feeling very worldly. Now it seems like a dream... and while I have eaten fish and chips in London, but it wasn't the same. Has that ever happened to you?
