Well, at least no one could complain that they couldn't hear...

Went to our premier of Rock of Ages last night. It was a surprise because when I left, we had just half a house and the place was pretty much sold out (30 seats left). That was great. The audience is much young than usual and they were there to party. There was very much a concert feel to the entire show.

The songs of Journey, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and other artists underscore a tale of big dreams in Hollywood. Soon after hopping off a bus from the Midwest, aspiring singer Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) immediately finds herself in trouble. Coming to her rescue is Drew (Diego Boneta), a bar-back at the legendary club the Bourbon Room. With stars in their eyes, the young lovers chase their dreams, but a misunderstanding involving rock god Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise) threatens to tear them apart. It was really loud and I honestly didn't have a clue what anyone was talking about. Dear me, have I gotten that old? I recognized a few songs and I give them high points for choreography. James Reed, playing the son of the German businessman, was a hoot. Sort of ruining it, though, was a couple who sang loudly with every song (even after the actors spotted) and talked (loudly) through much of the show. They should have been escorted out, especially when the guy's cell phone went off.

Was it the worse show we've done? Oh, hell no. Nor was it the best. I think it will really appeal to a certain section of our audience and I just hope that will be enough.
