So last night was the final concert in the park and it was the slot that Waterloo held for eleven years. When the band disbanded last year, I figured it was over. No, along came Super Trooper. All the same folks, except for the drummer. John Wells was the founder of Waterloo and when he left, he took the name and apparently most of the organization with him.
The new band sort of sound like ABBA, but the bridges were awkward, there was far too much chatter, the got the name of their sponsor wrong, the singers lost their places and their lyrics four times (hard for songs you've sung many times before). One of the back up singers was totally flat and they pretty much used exactly the same songs as Waterloo.
What didn't make sense is the first section was all slow stuff: Fernanado, Knowing Me, Knowing You, SOS, etc. The second leg was all fast stuff, never giving people a chance to rest. It lacked balance.
Afterwards, we both came straight home... except there was a medical emergency in front of TBG's vehicle and he was stuck there for forty-five minutes until it was cleared. Of course, he didn't think to give me a call and tell me this. Sigh...
Worse, for some reason, the cats decided it was no time to sleep, which pretty much egged on my insomnia, so four hours of sleep later, I'm off to work. The cats, OTOH...
