Things to make me happy when I am feeling blue

Apr 18, 2008 23:13

I thought I would make a top ten list of things that make me feel happy when I am blue, in an attempt to shake off this blah feeling. Then I can come back to it for reference.

First I am going to use a very happy icon. No point in trying to cheer myself up with a miserable one!

Secondly, I am going to put on a happy song. My song choice is : Happy Boys and Girls by Aqua (technically its crap, but its happy lol)

I am selecting the happy mood on my Poto Mood theme, even though it is also not technically true. No negativity here!

Next I am going to use a happy quote for my LJ cut!

Now for my happy top Ten (Things that make me happy) I have not included my daughters in this because it is obvious they make me happy most of the time. Friends of course make me happy! LOL.

THESE ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER :

1. The kiss scene in the BBC costume Drama "North & South" I could watch that on a loop, and sometimes I do! Mr Thornton...is the stuff that dream men are made of.

2. Richard Armitage, who happens to play Mr Thornton. He really is the sweetest guy/actor. Amazing how he plays such a baddie in Robin Hood! Well I think that is because he is a good actor!

3. Books! I try to read at least a book a week. Depending on my work load it does take longer. There is nothing like a bit of escapism in a good book, when life is getting you down. Books I have read in the last week are "Before I die" Erm not very happy, LOL. "Secrets of a summer night, by Lisa Kleypas" Now I have almost finished Jane Eyre, and I am currently reading "The Floating Brothel" by Sian Rees. It is a very interesting factual history book about women convicts who were shipped to Australia.

4 : Chocolate! the panacea of most ills, unless of course you are allergic! But I still don't agree that chocolate is better than sex, but it is not a bad second! Maybe a chocolate coated Mr Thornton, would be good. (See Pic 1)

5 : Writing. I love to write. For a year I didn't write a word, and I thought I had lost the desire to write again. I have two ideas for two original novels, but at the moment, I still prefer to write fanfic. I am a believer in writing about what makes you happy to write, which I am currently doing at the moment. Writing is a form of escapism like reading.

6 : Photoshop, or should I say, making things in Photoshop. Nothing like creating something in your graphics art program to take your mind off things. PS has got me through some hard times. More escapism, lol. I am starting to see a theme here!

7 : Making fan vids to my favourite movies and shows, although I do tend to rather get stuck on Guy of Gisborne. (Another character played by Richard Armitage) See pics 1 & 2 for reference again!) LOL. Making a story with a video is fun and sometimes a real challenge.

8. Costume Dramas. Give me a production in a crinoline or a corset, or whatever the time period and I am all over it. "North & South" with Richard Armitage is the best costume drama ever in my opinion. (There is that name again!) But I love so many, it would take so long to list. Cranford was wonderful. I believe it is airing in the US soon. Don't miss it, it is a treat!

9: Listening to my favourite radio station in the whole world, every night, as I go to sleep. That is when I can sleep, (bit of an insomniac here) Another thing I listen to, when I drift off to sleep is the Robin Hood audio books. Mr velvet chocolate voice (Richard Armitage), is very good at lulling me to sleep.

10 : The sea. I love watching the waves when I am on vacation, when I am the only one around, the sound of the sea is very relaxing, and it gives you a chance to get in touch with nature. One of the most elemental experiences I had was when I was standing on a lonely stretch of road on the Yorkshire moors. The wind was blowing, the sun was shining, it was so peaceful.

And there ends my top ten of happy. I am sure I could think of ten more, but that will do for now. You know what, it has really worked. I was feeling down and blue, but being reminded of some of the good things that make me happy has really lifted my spirits.

top ten of happy, reading, richard armitage, happy, books, music, list
