2006 AIDS Walk Los Angeles meets Veronica Mars!
On October 15th, the annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, benefitting AIDS Project Los Angeles and other AIDS and HIV programs across Los Angeles County, will be taking place in the West Hollywood area. ghostgirl13 and I have come together to form our very own team in support of such an amazing cause. But, we didn't just create any team. Nope! No siree! We are Team Neptune!
Coming off the high that was the BE Blowout, where we had the opportunity to meet Veronica Mars regulars Jason Dohring, Francis Capra, and Michael Muhney, we were inspired to create a team that would bring together fans from across Southern California for a very worthy cause, while also promoting our favorite show among the thousands of other walkers. We want Veronica Mars to be around for a long time, and the best way to do so is by turning others on to what we believe is an incredibly well-acted, excellently-written show. That we get to do it while also doing something good for humanity is just a wonderful bonus.
So please, if you live in the L.A./Southern California area, and are available, please register for the AIDS Walk and join Team Neptune! Meet other VM fans and enjoy the lively sights and sounds that make up the 10 kilometer-walk! There are regular rest stops along the walk, filled with refreshments and there is much entertainment throughout the way. Lots of fun to be had!
If you can't participate in the walk, but would still like to contribute, there are a several ways to do so! Any monetary donation you can make, either to our Team or a member of our Team, would be *extremely* appreciated. Our Team's goal is to raise at least $1000 and we have 7 weeks to get there!
Can't chip in any funds? Through eBay's Giving Works Charity program, we'll be auctioning off a variety of items, with all the proceeds going towards the AIDS Walk and meeting our Team's goal. If there are any items you would like to contribute, please let either ghostgirl13 or myself know. Currently, items to be auctioned will mostly come from the Whedonverse (a Buffy soundtrack signed by Joss Whedon, a Smile Time beautifully framed photo signed by David Fury, among other things), but items from any other fandom are always welcome. Of course, if you decide to join our team, you can hold your own auction to help meet your personal fundraising goal.
Strapped for cash or can't think of any items to donate? ghostgirl13 and I are looking for someone to design a T-shirt (within the mighty copyright laws) that all the members can wear during the walk. Since we can't actually *afford* to get the T-shirts and distribute them ourselves for free (though we really wish we could), we'll have them available somewhere like Cafe Press, and all the profits will go towards meeting our Team's donation goal.
Okay, so maybe you aren't the artsy type. That's still okay, because if you can just help us spread the word, we'd really appreciate it! We really want to get as many people involved as possible; the more the merrier! So, any communities and boards where this sort of advertising is allowed, please be sure to let others know! Just please don't break any community rules; if you aren't sure you can post about something like this, please ask a mod first. Or, let either ghostgirl13 or myself know about any potential sites.
