For those of you who just finished reading my previous entry, here is something a bit sweeter to wash away the bitter.
Matter of fact, I had a lovely Valentine Day. I posted up a two part comic which can bee seen at my site (link is on the sidebar).
Steve surprised me with a lovely dinner date, the second in four days. We celebrated his birthday last Saturday down at Olive Garden, so tonight he took me to Sweet Tomatos (huge-assed soup and salad buffet). We then went to Borders and picked up two danm-good CDs.
For his birthday, I got him a copy of the old Lena Horne movie
Stormy Weather. Four days later, we're both hopelessly hooked on
Cab Calloway. Here's a bit of black history you won't get at school. In the wiki article on
Lena Horne it says "(she)) was originally considered for the role of Julie LaVerne in MGM's 1951 version of Show Boat (having already played the role when a segment of Show Boat was performed in Till the Clouds Roll By) but Ava Gardner was given the role instead (the production code office had banned interracial relationships in films)"
..which is ironic because one of the key plots of the story centers around the stupidity of laws which ban interracial relationships.
Anyway, we've been listening to Cab Calloway and Fats Waller all night long.
In other surprising revelations, my father in law once owned a zoot suit and got to see Cab Calloway perform live on-stage.
Tis a wacky world we live in.
G'night wacky world!
