1. Being a doctor consists of helping the public with their medical needs (ex. writing out prescriptions, doing physicals, etc.) With being a doctor, you are required to have patience and social skills since this job requires talking with workers and patients at all times. Doctors have to be able to bend their schedules and even work nights when necessary. Also, doctors need to be calm because they are required to listen to their patients and sometimes are even needed to work under pressure.

2. The expected growth for employment in this occupation over the next 5 years is a large amount. Medical jobs are opening up in hospitals, offices, and now doctors are opening their own private practises.

3. To get into medical school, students must have an undergraduate degree. In schooling, medical students are required to take a certain number of math and science courses to have their application to medical school even considered. Along with that, applicants must also pass the MCAT. If their application is approved, it still takes another four years to earn the MD degree and title. Once their schooling is done, aspiring doctors must spend 3-7 years in a residency period where they have on-job training in hospitals and offices. All doctors must pass their licensing exams.

4. The courses at LTHS that would prepare me for this job are Biology Honors, Geometry, Chemistry, and Algebra.

5. The salary range for this job annually is $83,140 to $146,000 +.

6. Three things I can do to prepare myself for this occupation are join the Science Club, Math Club, and Science Special Project.

7. The sources I used were Google and Careercruising.com.

8. After answering all of the questions above, I would still love to pursue a career as a doctor. It may take a lot of schooling (something I absolutely detest), but I would love to help people and earn large paychecks.
