Can you help us, please?
The last 48 hours have been very stressful, and I have decided that I have little choice but to start begging for help.
The general run down on the current woes....
1.) My employer, a small family-owned business, was hit with a series of fraudulent shipping charges that were billed automatically to their bank, and pretty much wiped them out. We are talking about 400+ next-day air over a two-day period. We only became aware of it a week after the fact, and were told then that it was "going to be taken care of." But Friday, that was not apparently the case.
They are fighting the charges with the shipping company, and asking the bank to block the withdrawals, but at the current moment, my last week's paycheck is most likely going to bounce. And as this drags on, I do not know for how long this is going to complicate things.
2.) And if that was not bad enough, we have been having issues with the roof of the building leaking for a long time, and dealing with the landlord to fix it. Around midnight, I swung by the office to check on things and saw that there was now a massive bulge in the roof from rainwater collecting in one spot. I suspect by morning, it will probably collapse from the weight. Which will flood the warehouse as a result. Am not sure how bad the damage will be.
Right now, I am trying to not panic.
But with the uncertainty of how long the bank issue is going to be, I do not know what would be a good minimum level of assistance to ask for. I support myself and my family on my income, which only complicates things further.
I know that there are others who are in bad shape as well, and I do not feel comfortable asking others for help.
But for now, this is the only immediate option I can start with for the moment till Monday.
