Day 2: Who is this person? No idea, she was standing outside the aquarium when I snapped the shot. Anyway, onward!
Inside the Monterey Bay Aquarium the laws of gravity are suspended! Well..for whales anyway since they can seamingly fly. As well as one hungry blue shark.
Dory: Neeeeeemo? Why are you in the tank clear across the hall????
OMG, this was one of the most AWESOME things ever! See the tiny baby unborn swell shark still in his little eggsack? You could see him moving! It was so neat!
Another baby swell shark, this only only four inches and a couple weeks old. Awwww
Sharks from the kelp Reef exhibit:
Fat little African Penguins! So soft looking and cuddly! hehe
This Shoreline exhibit was very nicely done. Snowy plovers and various small coastal birds live and nest on the sandy shores sharing the water with small fish and young leopard sharks. It amazed me that they had no issue with the sharks attacking the birds or the birds eatting the fish
The deeper tanks housed more fierce sharks such as some lovely sevengills that were about six feet long and simply breath taking as weall as a few good-sized rays. Also some Sturills, Spiny Dogfish, and big five foot leopard sharks.
The view outside was also breathtaking. Kayakers lazily floating in the bay in warm 80 some degress wether under a clear blue sky.
Next Post: The star of the show, the Great White and the Sea Otters!
