I Thought It Was Going Too Well..

Today we hit our first 'hitch' regarding the builders/kitchen.

We were supposed to be having a 6ft wide window as otherwise, by the builder's own admission, there won't be enough light coming in (there's only one window). And I'm already in that situation with my current room, so it's not a mistake I intend to make twice.

Anyway, Mum noticed that they seemed to be building around a gap, which was obviously going to be the window. Only it was nothing like 6ft. We spoke to the workmen, who said they have to work to their plans (fair enough). We spoke to the boss, who said he needs it in verbal or writing, so we pointed out that it was HIM who said it, and he said it would delay the completion of the building. Personally I don't care if it's delayed, I'm gonna take as long as needs be to get it right this time.

We tried to phone the guy from the Council, but his line was continuously engaged - probably cos the builder was talking to him.

When we did get through he'd left for the day. Why'd this have to happen on a Friday afternoon? We've left a message for him to ring us first thing Monday..

On a separate note, it looks like my Uncle's funeral will be next Friday morning. We have to speak to the vicar (probably tomorrow) to confirm.

I tried on two pairs of trousers today and they were nowhere *near* fitting! Omg! I'm turning into that fat Scottish bloke from Austin Powers. Except the Scottish bit. I'll be Fat Welsh Bloke instead.

I have a pair that fit, just, so they'll have to do.

I'll probably have to go into town tomorrow to look for a jacket of some sort (one of the pairs of trousers was from my suit, and the jacket won't now fit, and doesn't match these trousers anyway). Looks like I'll have to go in whether I feel up to it or not. And spend more money I haven't got.

Ho hum.
