Impromptu root canal... who's in!?!?!
Just me? Shoot.
I went to the dentist today for my cracked tooth, thinking "I should get this taken care of before it gets worse".
It started with a 1 surface filling, "luckily I didn't wait too long to get it fixed"...
then, she didn't see the crack on the side til she really looked at my tooth - so, 2 surface filling.
Then she starts drilling and the "cracked" part of the tooth just... chips off (I totally knew it was going to happen, so I wasn't really surprised). 1/4 of my tooth gone. Then, she discovers that the dentist who put the filling in, didn't do a good job of cleaning out the cavity, and I had a cavity that burrowed deeper into my tooth, under my filling. And deeper. And deeper.
And then she hit root.
And then I needed 3 more shots (probably could have used one more cause I still felt it a bit).... and a root canal.
Except a root canal costs 660$ + the 89$ discount plan fee.
Ummmmmm... not likely to happen on this poor college student's budget.
So. Partial root canal today. Temporarily filling.
Full root canal next week.
And crown to top it off (eventually).
Discount plan: 89$/for the year
Root Canal: 660$
Crown: 750$
That's just for one tooth.
The one right behind that tooth is also cracking.
Who knows what we'll find with that one.
To replace the other old fillings (10 year old metal ones)... 590$
And no chewing on that side... which, of course, is the side I do most of my chewing on.
I mean, I like my teeth and all... but damn, they are such a hassle.
Researching dental insurance now for the "other teeth".

In other news. I did well on my HESI exams this week.
PathoPharm, I need at least a 75% on my final in order to pass... which is doable - maybe.
OB/PEDs, I need a 98% on my final to pass. Uhhhhhhhhh.... not as likely to happen. Haha.
I talked to my instructor the other day, went over the last test we had... and I had all of the logic right (I tend to write notes on my test, with what I'm thinking to either rule out an idea or select it)... and the logic was there, just not the right answer.
Example: A woman with what history is more at risk for an ectopic pregnancy? a)A benign cyst removal 2 years ago. b)Polycystic ovaries. c)Chlamydia. d)I don't remember what D was........
And I wrote "scar tisse" on my paper, because a woman with scar tissue is going to have issues with eggs. And, I said... cyst removal (although, now that I think about it, I can't remember if it specifically said cyst removal from her reproductive organs, which would have changed my answer if it had not been... was thinking cyst in the ovaries/fallopian tubes). But. No. Not cyst removal. Chlamydia. Chalmydia causes scarring of the uterus... and therefore the egg won't implant there, it'll find another place to implant.
DUMB.
So, I met with the Nursing Advisor and she was not that helpful today - basically said study for PathoPharm and fail one class (failing is getting a C), and still be in the program... or study for both and possibly fail both classes and get kicked out of the program?
Then she said, if I do flunk out, I should go talk to one of the Health Sciences Advisors and see what they have there. o_O Umm thanks. I already figured out all that stuff on my own... I was kinda hoping she'd have a little more insight to other paths. Not so much.
Although I haven't studied all semester (uhhh obviously), I'm going to try to do this whole study business for the finals. We'll see. I'm not that motivated to stay in the program anymore. I don't think I want to be a Nurse... but the Nursing path is the closest path to freedom (a degree) I have. o_O Dilemmas.
