In Athens I went shoplifting
I became friends with immigrants from Algeria.
No one is actually from Algeria.
By this time I felt fluent in Arabic.
Right now I'm trimming olive trees and fertilizing them
and taking care of a horse named something i can't pronounce.
I realized the purpose of my voyage when I woke up
contemplating the first rays of sun as the olive trees
bloomed behind me I pondered:
should i be on lithium right now?
i'm loving Greece.
I am working on a fig farm on the island of Evia.
I'm a complicated guy and i miss you terribly,
not as a lover, don't worry,
Ach! this Fernando i'm so head over heels for him!
He speaks like 10 languages, including Romanian.
He's so beautiful, and we have so much in common!
I'm doing the same thing i did with you, Dave,
reading at least half of your canon--
like 70 books-- to understand your passion.
I'm terribly afraid, I need you Dave.
Tell me what parts of me make sense.
Wow! I feel it's been ages
not long ago i was making fig paste up in the island of Evia.
I hyperventilate over the beauty of it all.
I came to Greece to figure things out,
and something about it is so motherly, so kind.
I have learned to ask people for help.
you take risks:
you end up in fig farms,
you find the most beautiful people,
the most amazing waters and words,
you feel hopeless and lost.
i haven't figured all my shit out...
let me give you a synopsis
i practice Ladino with the old jewish ladies
got 300 dollars stolen by a sex-worker
was a the mercy of a cab driver.
I got masturbated by an old fat man with a mustache at the turkish baths.
I ran with fernando on the streets of Istanbul
he was annoying and entitled as hell.
I try to get to Israel through Syria....whoops!
Back in Ankara I stay at a friendster's
but just everything is wrong with him
i fucked his friend cuz he was hot and had a motorcycle
and got kicked out of my friendster's.
I feel like shit, it's Shavuot,
no ATMs no money no place to stay. I run into G-d,
sleep in a park, go to a kibbutz in the desert,
find a permanent job. Now i'm A GOAT SHEPHERD!
