Why so glum chum? I would like to hear about it even if it wasn't rockin, but only if you're up for it. Although it clearly wasn't awesome because I wasn't there ;D Glad Tycho got a kick out of it XD
First con this year that I lost money on. Not much, mind you, but some.
Much worse was the opportunity cost. All that time and effort banking on a big payoff and then, meh.
There were some intangibles gained, yes. But many were also lost in the three months of hellish runup and prep. San Diego changed my outlook. I am just not sure what it has changed TO, yet. Hence, the depression.
But I think this was the 25th or 26th year I've gone to the Comic-Con. I mean, I know I first heard of it from Dan Goodsell, and I met him in first year Latin our freshman year in high school: that would've been 1979, so the earliest I could've gone would've been the summer of 1980...
The thing just keeps getting bigger and more crowded, but I keep enjoying it. I actually introduced myself to some of the other folks in the Daily Grind Contest and proposed a project to Oni--usually I just walk around and look at everything, so this was a big change for me.
