W00t! Well, even though I didn't have a fursuit this con was a lot more fun ^-^ So much thanks and gratitude to the delightful sirfox for allowing me the use of his table to test the waters, as it were. If I have time next year to do this sort of thing again (who knows) I think it'd be well worth it to get my own table. It's definitely a lot more fun ( Read more... )

Yay for comics! I checked back just now, and there was more. If it was posted in LJ, I haven't had time to catch up yet, but it certainly puts me at ease.

But yea, what I'm thinking of would be fairly complicated, in more ways than one. I realized it would be extremely cool and beautiful, to have a series of 3 or more highly detailed pics of artistic shapes, from different artists. I'd possibly ask for them in black, white, and grayscales, since they'd likely match better that way. I'd like something wonderful I could frame on my wall, but I'll likely end up working with individual artists for it.

So far, I had already asked vulgaris about commissioning a large, complex pic composed entirely of curves. She's pondering it, but nothing is certain. From what I've seen, she has impressive styles involving curves, and the following drove it home: The hair in the conbadge I commissioned from her:

Later on, I realized "Hey, 80 has impressive styles with sharp angles! Her art is full of it!"... I'm figuring if you made a highly detailed piece entirely of angles and etc, it'd be perfect for a series like that. I'd ask for a much, much more chaotic arrangement, but something like this, from your Anthem comic 48:

Eh... I'd need to figure out who artist #3, but I'm gonna talk to tcgiant soon, for his sketching styles and his ability to make interesting contrasts. Sorta like like this, from his Grandfather pic:

The only problem I can see with asking him, is that I piss him off fairly easily, lol. He seems to do well with the ideas put in front of him, though. I gotta talk to him though, I dunno if he even knows I'm interested in his art.

I'd like to also find a artist that does blocky styles well, but I haven't seen too much of that. I'd likely find what I'm looking for by checking mech artists though.

HOWEVAR! If this idea turned out well afterwards, maybe the various artists could get together, make sets pf prints, sell it, and make small monies off it, who knows. In any case, I really would lurv a neat series of art 0_0;

Hmm, well it certainly sounds interesting, and I like the ideas for different styles you have. Not really sure what exactly it is you've got in mind though as far as subject matter goes XD You say "artistic shapes" but I'm not sure if you mean something wildly abstract or some kind of figure or what...?

Ah, good question. I hadn't thought of that question, but I was positive these things needed to be wildly abstract. I'd also lurv the one from you to be sorta dense looking, maybe as dense as you drew the character Adie's hair in example I put up.

I really need to put more thought into this, though... I just spent, like, 50 minutes typing and untyping, debating with myself, only to make the thought "ACK! Hand gestures don't translate well into text", lol. Maybe we could chat sometime when I/you have more time, or when I bump into you again later.

The big things I'm wondering about now, that crossed my mind, would be what pic size would be good, and whether or not to have it all greyscales. There's a number of other things crawling through my mind now, but I'm sure having the pic digitally colored/finished/perfected would be best in terms of getting it the right size, look, etc.

ACK TYPING STOPS NOW
Gonna take a break :P

Rah! Well, it's a very intriguing project, though I really have no idea how well I'd do at it since I haven't done abstract stuff terribly much (though I find it intereting, yus yus)
Definitely seems like something we should get together with in person, as doodling ideas seems immensly more useful than text here.
Hrm. I don't know if the other artists you mentioned are in the area, but maybe you me and jessup could meet at the contemporary art museum in DC some weekend to try to brainstorm??

Dooh! A trip sounds like a fun idea... tcgiant is certainly in the area last I checked, and I'm likely to see him at college/school next semester. I still have to bring the series idea to him and Jessup, but it could work well. I dunno where you live, but the trip to that museum might be roughest on Jessup, since she lives far in east MD.

Eh, I gotta make some calls, and etc...

*runs since the rool got volatile*

Awesome, talked with Vulgaris, sounds like she's interested, if she can find time. Sounds like July is hectic for her though. The thought has come up though, that I'll likely end up working individually with people, and we'll probably figure out what we can, online... less demands on people that way
