"We'll sleep in on sunday.
The sheets and the sun's rays will close all around,
Wash over like ocean sounds.
We'll stay in the bedroom
Until slanting sunlight tells us it's after noon."
~The One AM Radio
Wow, the show last night, well this morning, was...wow... a mindfuck i guess. Musically, i've never been to a show that mindblowing. First was Tides, which is this stonner-metal, and they had all these weird visulalzations on the projecter screen behind them and that with their spacey but heavy music, well, it felt like it took you on some sort of journey. My jaw was hanging open most of the performance. I thought that was amazing and one am radio was still to come, well they were actually the next band to go on.
Their set was simple (left to right) their upright bassist, the lead singer/ guitarist, violinist 1/ saw player, violinist 2 in more or less a straight line. Two spotlights projected on them and the rest of the theater was dark and absoltuely silent othen than their music. The sound quality was amazing, the music itsself was amazing, the vibe was amazing. If you've never heard these guys, go to their website and listen to some songs or i'll burn your their cd. And if you have, you know how great they sound. Get this, they sound even better live (i previous to the show thought that they could never sound better than how they sound of their cd cuz it's already so good.)The feeling it gave you was amazing though, sitting in the half-dark their music wraps around you in the most comforting of ways, it envelops you, swallows you alive... And you don't resist at all, you fall into it, you love it, you feel the soft bass matchup with your heartbeat, the most soothing vocalists you have ever heard fills you head with images that caress, make love to your mind, even though the words mean nothing to you, they are merely letters strewn together, he is able to pull you into their world, and ah, they have one beautiful reality. The violins play harmioniusly together, you can't even tell if they're playing the same thing, they could be or it could be that the sounds match up so perfectly they become one. And you become one with them, with the entire band, the entire experience. There is an overwhelming feeling of completeness, of the uttmost peace you can achieve in this life. And yeah, that's what they sound like.
The wind-up bird was next and it took him was too long to set up for music that was mediocre so we left at 3am.
We got home, ate ice cream, and watched family guy until we feel asleep.
It's been a good morning.
