I'm going to PEI for a 5-day vacation this weekend...there will be much beach time involved.
If you haven't downloaded and starting listening to the CBC Radio 3 podcasts, please do. I just sent them an email request to hear some Jill Barber. It went a little something like this:
"Hello to everyone involved in the making of the CBC Radio 3 Podcast - the soundtrack to keeping me sane and hip at work, where I pour over mind-numbing amounts of data in spreadsheets on a daily basis.
My name is Katherine, and I'm a marine biology student and environmental science student at Dalhousie University in the great city of Halifax. I'm a huge fan of new, interesting, and different music, which is why I am overjoyed to be able to taste a smattering of new artists each and every week on the podcast.
I would very much like Jill Barber to get some air-play. Her songs may not be what some would consider musically 'fresh,' but that is only because they bring with them a sense of maturity and hint at an appreciation for long-lost songs that only an old soul could express. Her songs are rich with imagery, pleasant to hear, and are very much her own sound. It is because of the presence of singer/songwriters like Jill Barber that I continue to be enthralled with music from the East coast.
Thanks for the weekly injection of great music, and keep giving independent artists the exposure they deserve!
Ever the music enthusiast,
Katherine"
(I know the "my name is" is lame, but they said "tell us who you are" so I did).
