Today, I got in to work a little late, and most of the office group was out to a fare-well lunch for one of my fellow employees. Our offices are laid out in such a way that anyone entering our area must walk by my own office. As they started to trickle back into the office after lunch, one by one they stopped at the doorway of my office--sometimes singly, sometimes in groups--to gawk as though my office were the site of some horrific and unmentionably gory traffic accident; or perhaps as though I had sprouted a third eye on my forehead overnight. What could possibly draw this much attention to your humble narrator?
What? It was just after the career fair.
And, for the record, I have an interview in a little less than 13 hours with a company called
Hughes Network Systems. My other big prospect from the career fair was Amazon.com, and thirdly
SPI Dynamics, a web-application security group. As it turns out, Amazon is based in Seattle--and those of you who know me reasonably well have probably already hear me mention the possibility of moving to Seattle post-graduation. The plot thickens.
As a related aside, one of Amazon's recruiters was a remarkably hot/punky chick wearing a collar/choker. I was in her line at the actual career fair, but one of the other recruiters finished up and waved me over. I grudgingly complied. But, I did compliment her on her accessory at their little information session that was held after the career fair.
