I should update

I have become an urban farm girl. I don't know how this happened. I have three chickens living on my porch that will soon be laying a ton of eggs. I'm growing vegetables at a community garden near my house. Zucchini, tomatoes, herbs, green onions, beans, peppers, and more. I think spring did something to me. I had to grow stuff. I've built elaborate structures for my pole beans to climb, lovingly removed broken glass and hypodermic needles from my garden plot, watered once or twice a week, and pulled up the little weeds. It's really satisfying to just take care of plants and watch them grow. My chickens are pretty hilarious to watch. They're not very smart. They eat a lot of paint chips (probably lead). Chickens poop a lot. I mean a whole lot. Fortunately it doesn't smell as bad as mammal poo, there's just a large volume of it considering the size of a chicken. They can't fly very well. Or maybe it doesn't occur to them because if I lift one and let her go she can glide pretty far. Flying over the four foot fence of the courtyard is totally out of the question. This whole experience just seems sort of odd because I love living in the city in my little run-down apartment, but I feel the need to do activities that don't fit in well with that lifestyle.
